The pretty village of Cartmel has some excellent pubs and stylish shops to visit, plus of course the ancient priory. Rail enthusiasts at this Flookburgh cottage will be delighted to join the branch line at Cark-in-Cartmel or Grange-over-Sands and travel over the aqueduct to Arnside, whilst younger visitors will enjoy the Lakeside & Havethwaite Railway and Aquarium of the Lakes at Lakeside. Of course, after a day of exploring, you can return to your cosy Grange-over-Sands cottage to relax in comfortable surroundings and catch up with the days’ activities on the farm.
The village of Flookburgh is set on the shores of Morecambe Bay on the outskirts of the Lake District. Named after the Fluke fish, it provides a haven for cockle and shrimp fishers together with a choice of welcoming pubs. The Cumbria Coastal Path runs close by, presenting superb walking and nature watching opportunities.

Very welcoming host, John who was always available if needed without being intrusive. Good access to the southern lakes and plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. You are staying on a working farm so expect to hear the sound of cows in the morning which we didn't mind at all. Grange over sands is a very pretty village with a fabulous promenade and there are plenty of places to eat in the village.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the farm and seeing the animals. An ideal location for exploring the lakes. Cottage very comfortable and had everything we needed, our only criticisms would be the shower & some areas not as clean as we would normally expect for a four star Sykes rating.

The whole experience was more than we could have expected and the reality of the cottage, its location and the surrounding areas are better than the marketing.
