Guests say

The Barn in Cumbria offers a cosy and homely stay with stunning views, a secure garden, and a hot tub for relaxation. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds, the well-equipped kitchen, and the generous supply of essentials. The friendly and helpful owners add to the positive experience, despite some maintenance issues noted.

Most guests found The Barn to be clean and well-maintained, though a few noted minor cleanliness issues such as a found sock and a baby dummy. The presence of a hot tub rash in one case suggests occasional lapses in maintenance.

The property is praised for its beautiful and quiet rural setting, ideal for exploring the countryside, with easy access to local attractions. However, the lack of a pub or shop within walking distance was noted by some.

Guests consistently mention the comfortable beds and the cosy atmosphere of The Barn. The spaciousness and homely feel contribute to a relaxing stay, although some guests experienced issues with shower temperature and pressure.

The Barn is well-equipped with a generous kitchen and a hot tub, but several reviews mention maintenance issues such as a broken dishwasher, wobbly paving slabs, and a faulty shower. These issues suggest room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.

While many reviews mention the owners' helpfulness and the provision of essentials, there are no specific references to gifts or extra thoughtful touches that would warrant a score in this category.

About this property

A fabulous, terraced barn conversion on the owner’s working farm in the pretty hamlet of Milton, just a short drive from Brampton. Lovingly converted, the interior of The Barn has been well-thought-out to provide maximum comfort for guests. The sitting room has a warming woodburner and sumptuous sofas, the large windows overlook the enclosed garden and French doors lead to the patio area. This is an ideal spot for letting the dogs safely stretch their legs or just relaxing and watching the sun descend behind the Tindle Fells to the West. On frosty evenings what would be better than battening down the hatches, and relaxing in front of the woodburner whilst watching a film on the 50" Smart TV!

The adjoining kitchen/diner has a large table, ideal for those family meals or a spot of Monopoly. The Barn is ideal for a large family or couples, with two en-suite bedrooms and a family bathroom for the third bedroom. Perfectly positioned for visiting the Scottish Borders, Northern Lakes and Pennines, this is a wonderful place for a Cumbrian break at any time of year. Note: This cottage is next to Refs. 3738, 3739, 4585, 917515, 922499 and 941220, 949797, together they sleep 30.

Ideally placed for exploring northern Cumbria, the hamlet of Milton is close to all of the region's most popular attractions including Hadrians Wall, the Solway Firth coast and the Lake District National Park. The nearby market town of Brampton dates back to the Roman occupation, and shows evidence of attacks from Scottish border raiders and Jacobite uprisings.

Would definitely recommend! The property was lovely and lots to see and do in the area. We were also pleasantly surprised to be invited to visit the lambs being born which was very educational for our children, thank you again!

The property was extremely spacious, and the beds were so comfy! The hot tub was a nice touch as was the log burner. The property had such a cosy feel to it. It’s only a short drive into Brampton where you can get supplies and we got one of the best chineses I’ve ever had from Hoi Sun. Would definitely recommend this property to others and would 100% stay again if we’re were planning a trip up there again. Thank you

Had to sleep with the window open and bathroom door shut. Disappointed
