Honeysuckle Cottage offers a cosy stay in the heart of the Cotswolds, with its warm atmosphere and thoughtful touches like biscuits and a well-stocked kitchen. While some guests have highlighted areas for improvement, many have enjoyed the property's charm, the beautiful location, and the convenience for exploring the surrounding countryside.
Several reviews mention issues with cleanliness, including cobwebs, dirty carpets, and unclean worktops. These recurring comments suggest that cleanliness is below expectations for a number of guests.
The cottage's location is appreciated for its beauty and convenience for exploring the Cotswolds, despite some concerns about road noise. The rural setting is a highlight for those seeking a country experience.
Guests find the cottage cosy and warm, with a fantastic shower and comfortable sofas. However, issues with bed slats and thermostat valves, as well as noise from traffic, have affected the comfort level for some.
The property has a range of facilities including a well-equipped kitchen and Netflix, but guests have reported maintenance issues like broken appliances and poor WiFi. The lack of a freezer and cleaning equipment has also been noted.
Guests have mentioned appreciative gestures such as a welcome package with biscuits and a fully stocked kitchen. However, it should be noted that such gifts are kind gestures and may not be guaranteed for every stay.
Honeysuckle Cottage is a classic Cotswolds Cottage, set overlooking local countryside, and a short distance from Stow on the Wold. The property is presented in an attractive, fresh style yet with a cosy, homely feel that we feel is as suited to families as it is to couples. Downstairs is an open plan space with open fire and large sofas plus a well equipped kitchen, while upstairs are two good sized bedrooms both with views across the Cotswolds' countryside. With Stow on the Wold a few minutes up the road you have an excellent selection of pubs, cafes and antique shops and art galleries close by (for the grown ups!) while for the children, Adam Henson's (of BBC Countryfile) Cotswolds Farm Park is only a few minutes away - there's plenty to keep everyone happy! There are some quite amazing walks taking you into arguably the most attractive part of the Cotswolds countryside. This is a sweet cottage, absolutely perfect for couples or families wishing to enjoy an exceptional area of the Cotswolds.

Important limitations, however, included a total lack of welcome pack / information about the cottage so we didn't realise we needed to turn the immersion on to have any hot water in the morning (endured a very unpleasant cold shower on the first morning). The TV needs replacing - no service on ITV (annoying as my children were hoping to watch a Christmas programme) and intermittent service on BBC (kept cutting out). We did love the fire and living space, though.

Easy off road parking. Had seen some previous âaverageâ comments but still booked anyway, there was some road noise as mentioned but we have had that in most locations where we have had good access - we have no issue with the cottage and would book again.

Arrival and details were fine, tea was provided but, inexplicably, no coffee and this was indicative of a series of baffling decisions by the owners. There was no welcome manual so we were without hot water for a day until the agents suggested something we could try (which worked). The kitchen is appallingly thought out, the hob has no extractor fan and half of the pans provided are not suitable for an induction hob, the oven needs a clean as it sets off the smoke alarm every time the door is opened. There is a washer and a dryer and a dishwasher but, inexplicably, no freezer meaning food we bought in advance went to waste. Elsewhere side tables are not wipe clean and some look like school GCSE projects where others are repurposed (a Fortnum and Mason hamper may look classy but wineglasses donât sit comfortably on it. Draws are loose, the bathroom door sticks badly, the double bed is too small, a selection of the owners niche cd collection sits in the childrenâs bedroom taking up space and adding no value, electrical items are daisy chained on extension leads all over the place. I could go on. Itâs the kind of place where you tolerate the flaws because your friends leant it to you and itâs free. This wasnât. To cap it all on our penultimate day an interior designer and builder, commissioned by the owners, arrived to look round and quote. We werenât told about this and it absolutely confirmed our decision to leave early.
