About this property

Willow Tree Cottage is a stunning, spacious cottage, nestled within the picturesque Cotswolds village of Chedworth. Originally built for the railway station master, the cottage is built from Cotswold Stone and retains a wealth of period features, which are perfectly fused with a modern, contemporary style, making it the perfect home-from-home for a small family or two couples who are looking for a relaxing break.

The grounds of the cottage are entered through a lovely beech archway, which opens onto a large gravel driveway where you can park up to four cars. As you unload your luggage in through the front door, you are welcomed by the bright entrance hall, which leads you to the dual aspect reading room, where you can get some peace and quiet sat at one of the wing back armchairs, overlooking the views of the garden.

Moving through the property into the kitchen/diner, you will find everything you need to cook up delicious meals for your party, making use of the electric oven and five-ring induction hob, and perhaps watching a cooking show in the meantime on the wall-mounted Smart TV, before gathering with your guests around the dining table.

The stylishly decorated sitting room provides a welcoming space for you and your loved ones to relax of an evening, surrounded by an impressive exposed Cotswold stone wall, as you catch up on your favourite TV show and get the woodburning stove crackling away to provide warmth in winter months.

Conveniently completing the ground-floor is a utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer, and a cloakroom with a basin and WC.

When sleep calls, a choice of three homely bedrooms rest on the first-floor; bedroom one is a dual aspect eaves room, with a king-size bed and en-suite bath, with a hand-held shower, large walk-in rain shower, basin and WC.

A secret doorway in bedroom one leads into bedroom three, which contains twin beds, making it perfect for children.

Bedroom two is either accessed from the main stairwell, or accessed by taking a steep spiral set of stairs with a rope barrier that are concealed behind the fire in the sitting room, the room is located in the eaves and contains a king-size bed and benefits from a TV and an en-suite walk-in shower, basin and WC.

In the morning, catch the sunrise in the beautiful garden that surrounds the property, and marvel at the small pond and variety of trees and plants. The garden rises up behind the cottage, and includes a lovely lawned area looking out over a meadow towards the local church where you can take a seat at one of the chairs and take in the morning air. Be sure to make use of the charcoal barbecue in summer months!

Get ready for the day and explore your local area, the unspoilt village is well placed for walking in the beautiful surrounding Coln Valley, and is close to Chedworth Villa, once one of the grandest Roman villas in the country.

If you’re looking for an indulgent breakfast, make your way to The Old Prison in nearby Northleach for tasty food, and to explore the old prison cells, courtroom and Lloyd-Baker wagons, which date back to the late 1770’s.

The bustling market town of Cirencester is nearby, where you can visit the array of shops along the Market Place and brush up on some history at Corinium Museum which shows impressive Roman artifacts that have been well-preserved.

To indulge in total relaxation, venture over to the regency spa town of Cheltenham where you can enjoy a spot of shopping and finish off your day with a relaxing spa afternoon at Ellenborough Park spa, which is caught between the Cotswolds' highest point and the lush green gallops of Cheltenham's world-famous racecourse, and is an indulgent 15th Century country estate, turned 21st Century luxury retreat.

However you choose to spend your time in the Cotswolds, be sure to make Willow Tree Cottage your base.

Chedworth is an attractive historic village in Gloucestershire. The village has two friendly pubs and is home to one of the largest Roman villas in Britain. Incredibly homely and with everything you need for a very comfortable stay. If you are looking for something for children, this was really good - lots of children’s kitchenware, loads of good toys and books and such a great little children’s room which feels like an adventure in itself! Having a separate living/play room was wonderful to allow everyone to relax in different spaces. There are lots of lovely different areas to the garden and a (crazy fast!) quality slide for the more adventurous. The pub up the lane was fantastic - friendly with great food - but worth checking opening hours and pre-booking in advance as it closed early on Sunday and was also not open on a Monday. The wifi was not available throughout the entire house and there was no phone signal at all so also worth bearing that in mind if you need to be contactable. Overall a fantastic and most enjoyable stay!

This is a stunning village and the house was amazing. We had everything we needed. The facilities were high standard and modern. The property was beautiful. As for the location? Just perfect we were in reach of so many great places to visit.

The facilities were great, and everything was spotless. The lower and upper village had some great little walks for the evening, and the local pub seemed to have steady custom. Tv and WiFi reception was faultless, for relaxation later. Plenty of parking and space to potter in the garden.
