About this property

A beautifully refurbished detached bungalow with characterful barrelled ceilings tucked away in the pretty village of Mawgan between the Helford River and the ancient market town of Helston. Descend a private tree lined drive to discover this supremely comfortable holiday home with a large and established sloping garden. Step inside and find a refined and laid-back home interior with oodles of space, attention to comfort and a cosy wood burner. The accommodation is arranged on one level and designed to maximise garden and woodland views. Bedrooms are furnished with good quality beds, both bathrooms are pristine and the bold red and white kitchen is fully equipped. Doors lead from the sitting room to a sun-trap patio for barbecues and a terrace for wildlife watching. Enjoy the games room with full size table tennis table. Screened from view in an immensely peaceful spot, this property is bordered by open countryside and the historical Trelowarren estate and woodlands. This destination is bliss for city escapees seeking some serious R&R and an excellent launch pad for the Lizard Peninsula beaches and fishing coves. Guests are welcome to splash in the stream at the foot of the garden (bring wellies), which is fenced and gated. Follow the stepping stones across the stream and trace the public footpath through scenic woodlands. You will also be close to Frenchman's Creek, the subject of Daphne Du Maurier's famous novel. Hire a motor boat, kayak or dinghy and explore the area on water. Splendid sub-tropical Trebah and Glendurgan Gardens are nearby whilst spectacular Kynance Cove Beach should not missed! Within a short stroll from the property is the well known Ship Inn pub and restaurant and a local convenience store. Nearby is the village of Gweek with its world renowned Seal Sanctuary. Within a 15 minute drive is the fishing village of Porthleven, a hotspot for foodies and home to Rick Stein's seafood restaurant. A romantic hideaway designed with families and couples in mind, Bosgilly could be just what you are looking for.

Helford is a picturesque village on the south side of the Helford River. Helford is very popular with its thatched cottages, excellent village stores and especially The Shipwrights Arms, right on the edge of the creek with its waterside terrace. Just a short walk away is Frenchman’s Creek, immortalised by Daphne du Maurier. The Helford River Sailing Club is very popular and a regatta is held every August. In the summer a passenger ferry runs to Helford passage, the home of the Ferryboat Inn, and nearby to the gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan. The wildlife on the Helford River is diverse and a birdwatcher’s paradise.
