Experience - The Area...
Uniquely placed in the heart of the unspoilt 18th century harbourside village of Charlestown, a world heritage site recently featured in Poldark, these sympathetically converted Grade II listed barns along with the owners red brick and stone farmhouse set amidst peaceful countryside are one of the oldest dwellings in the village.
Just a couple of minutes stroll from the sand and pebble beaches and coastal path, there is also a footpath running through the property leading to Carlyon Bay and several good restaurants. The conservation area focuses around the quayside with visiting tall ships and still survives as a working harbour today.
Much care has been taken to retain the charm and character of these two south facing stone and slate barn conversions which are surrounded by extensive landscaped gardens for the visitors use with sea views from the lawn and ample parking space available. The location within the village provides a private and tranquil setting. Outside storage can also be made available for bicycles, canoes and boat trailers. In the owners private garden, as a keen member of the Cornwall Beekeepers Association they keep beehives.
The amenities of the village are all close at hand, including the Shipwreck & Heritage Centre, restaurants, tea rooms, pub and hotel. St Austell, 2 miles, has a good choice of supermarkets and shops, a railway station, 4 golf courses and the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are within a 10 - 15 minute drive. Newquay Airport and the North Coast is only 30 minutes away.
Stay - The Accommodation...This spacious L shaped barn is entered through the front door into a hallway and to one side is the master bedroom with a kingsize double bed and an en-suite shower room W.C. with hand basin.
On the opposite side, the entrance hall leads through to a bathroom W.C. with wash basin and shower over the bath, a twin bedded room and a delightful living room. There is a fully fitted country style kitchen/diner with doors leading out to the beautiful grounds and a work bar divides the comfortably furnished leather sitting area with natural wood flooring, Sky TV and with a ceiling open to the apex of the roof.
An additional conservatory and large greenhouse providing fabulous extra space for dining and entertaining adjoins the living room.
Stairs from the hallway lead up to a gallery landing which provides an extra casual seating/play area and to one side a door opens to a large bedroom with two single beds underneath the eaves.
Don't forget...- Owners provide free charcoal/firelighters for the barbecue and can arrange for lobster and crab to be delivered
