Experience - The Area...

A charming and very cute traditional fishermans cottage located at the top of a pretty Cornish 'snickett' (narrow cobbled street - not steep) and just a short walk from the town centre with pubs, selection of local shops and restaurants. The nearest beach at Wherrytown is under a mile of the property and within comfortable walking distance.

Although small, Newlyn can boast about a number of attributes it offers. For example, did you know that Newlyn has its very own two screen cinema?  The wonderful Newlyn School of Art runs various courses throughout the year suited to both beginners and professional artists. The gallery nextdoor will while away a few hours with the studio cafe serving up delicious light snacks and drinks. The artists' paradise of St Ives is just 25 minutes by car from Newlyn and worth a visit particularly outside of the main, much busier summer months. Don't forget to pay Cornish ice cream makers Jelberts a visit whilst in Newlyn.  Just one flavour but the queue out of the shop gives away its popularity!

To one side of Newlyn you have the historic port town of Penzance with high street, numerous cafes, restaurants and pubs. The The Art Deco Jubilee outdoor pool in Penzance is a great place to visit. To the far side of Penzance is the market town of Marazion home to St Michaels Mount.

As well as Wherrytown beach there are numerous other beaches to choose from around Newlyn including the sandy beaches at Long Rock and Marazion.

To the other side is the picturesque fishing village of Mousehole just 2 miles from Newlyn with pretty Lamorna Cove 4 miles.

Stay - The Accommodation...

From the stable door at the front, one deep step leads down into the small but perfectly formed open plan living, dining and kitchen.  A wooden staircase leads up from the living area to the mezzanine style bedroom with king size bed and bathroom WC with rainhead shower over.

The cottage has been lovingly refurbished with an attractive coastal washed decoration theme running through. Exposed and painted original wooden floorboards throughout. The property is heated by gas central heating.Whilst there is no garden at Orchard Cottage, a bench to the front with views down through the snickett is really very pretty and perfect for a morning cuppa!

Permit parking for one car at the nearby Tolcarne Inn car park is included in the rental. Please note however, that the permit does not guarantee a parking space but it does allow you to park free of charge in this car park when occupying a space.
