About this property

Pensilva 2.3 miles. The Cowshed is an attractive, single-storey, detached lodge surrounded by countryside in Merrymeet near Pensilva, Cornwall. Set in its own field with a secluded decking area with hot tub, this pet-friendly abode has been thoughtfully appointed for a couple or family to explore Devon and Cornwall. A designated parking space greets you on arrival to unpack and take in your peaceful surroundings. Inside the lodge, a bright and spacious, open-plan living space welcomes you in; greens, blues and wooden furnishings make a delightful setting to rustle up a tasty supper in the kitchen area. Equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave and dishwasher, you'll have no problem setting up evening meals on the dining table for four. Spend summer evenings dining alfresco on the private decking with a barbecue and furniture, while the outdoor hot tub entices you to relax under the stars. As the evening cools, a snug sitting area awaits with two squishy sofas, cushions and throws to curl up and watch TV. Retire to the double bedroom after the day's adventures, complete with bedside lamps for night-time readers, storage space, and an en-suite shower room with a heated towel rail. Two more guests have space in the separate living area with a sofa bed, which can be twin or king-size, and can be separated from the main living area by a screen. Another contemporary shower room serves this space with a walk-in shower and heated towel rail, so all guests are well catered to! In the mornings, make a fresh brew using the coffee machine and take your dog into the enclosed field to stretch their legs while you have a moment's peace overlooking the countryside. A short journey brings you to Pensilva, a village hosting the Victoria Inn to dine out and Trevallick's Farm Shop if you prefer cooking at The Cowshed; The Crows Nest pub is also close by with an open fire, real ales and classic pub grub! The ancient market town of Liskeard is a short drive away where Stuart House heritage museum, Liskeard Museum, and Moyclare Cornish Garden are all worth a visit. If you're seeking adventure, the spectacular Bodmin Moor offers Carnglaze Caverns which hosts regular events in an underground lake, Golitha Falls within an ancient woodland, and the popular Alpaca Trekking through spectacular scenery. The coastal town of Looe is within reach, either by car or along the Looe Valley Line to take in the gorgeous vistas, where the bustling Banjo Pier overlooks East Looe Beach, a popular swimming spot, alongside Old Guildhall Museum & Gaol and the historic Smugglers Cott Restaurant. You'll find plenty of watersports opportunities in the area too! Whether you're seeking a romantic break for two or a pet-friendly adventure with your family, The Cowshed has it all.

Pensilva is a moorland village in Cornwall that has its roots in the tin mining industry. The rocky Cheesewring Quarry, where granite was mined to create Plymouth's Devonport Dockyard, and the distant settlement of Minions, home of the famous Hurlers stone circles, are among the numerous well-known landmarks in this portion of Bodmin Moor. Rough Tor and Brown Willy are both wonderful treks to the west. The nearby Siblyback Reservoir, which is also a great fishing area, offers a variety of watersports.
