About this property

Eagle Heights is a charming, three-bedroom villa on the southwest coast of Turkey. You’ll love the modern, whitewashed interior, beautiful wooden ceilings and the amazing panoramic sea views. There are plenty of chances to make a splash too: in the private outdoor pool or at Akyaka or Cinar Beach, within a short drive of Eagle Heights. The villa’s vistas are one of the best in the area, especially at sunset.

Nestled between olive and pine trees, on the outskirts of sleepy Akyaka town, the villa is secluded and private and blends effortlessly into the natural surrounds (you’ll have to look closely to see that it’s even there). The villa incorporates both classic Turkish and cool contemporary elements, and effortlessly manages that hard-to-pull-off trick of being glamorous and comfortable at the same time. With quiet tranquillity, yet amenities a short 5km drive away, it’s a genuine destination stay.

Stepping inside, you’ll notice how the villa is flooded with beautiful, natural light with floor-to-ceiling windows and doors from the living room and master bedroom leading straight out onto the pool terrace. There’s an open-plan kitchen, living and dining room with two cushioned sofas, a dining table seating six and an island for relaxing and dining. The kitchen is also fully-equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine and oven for a hassle-free home-from-home experience.

The three bedrooms are simply stylish and have everything you need, including make-up tables, dressers and nightstands, alongside air conditioning for a comfortable holiday. The master has an en-suite bathroom, and there’s another shared bathroom off the lounge, so there won’t be any fights for the shower. Outside, the peaceful coastal-facing garden and pool area aren’t visible from the front, so you can sunbathe in the knowledge that you’re in complete privacy. If you need entertaining watch out for the eagles and other birds that glide the thermals above.

Find your perfect spot on a sun lounger, swim right up to the water’s edge to get more breath-taking views or dine al fresco while soaking up the serene ambience. If you’d like to go exploring, markets and restaurants are within a short walk. Eagle Heights is an excellent choice for families with children and those who want to discover the culture and natural beauty of this idyllic part of Turkey.

Eagle Heights is located in Akyaka, a small rural town in southwest Turkey. The villa is nestled into the hillside, is surrounded by trees and overlooks the coast. This is an area favoured by beekeepers as there's little polution, you will see the blue beehives scattered around the countryside. Although it feels like you’re a world away from civilisation, it’s still within a short drive of local restaurants, markets and the beach, and is only an hour-dive from vibrant Dalyan, if you’d like to explore more of this beautiful area.

Akyaka itself is best known for its natural surrounds. There’s a wetland conservation area where you can try your hand at spotting fish, otter and herons, alongside plenty of walking trails that take you through the pine tree-lined forest and along the Kadin Azmak River where local fisherman are reeling in their catch. For lunch, you can stop off at one of the fresh seafood restaurants along the river, follow the river to the harbour and sandy Akyaka Beach.

Akyaka Beach is popular because of its calm, crystal-clear waters that are perfect snorkelling and swimming. In the town, there’s a small market where you can pick up fresh produce, alongside a butcher, baker and coffee houses. You can wander the streets lined with classic Turkish Ottoman Ula Houses or head to a boutique shop for handmade items like rugs, shoes and clothes.

Just outside of Akyaka, you’ll find Cinar Beach – a secluded cove surrounded by forested mountains, with a small creek and a beach bar. For family-friendly day trips, you could jump on a boat from Akyaka to Cleopatra's Beach, Sedir island. You can swim there and also explore the Hellenic and Roman ruins, including an amphitheatre, where olive trees have grown through the stones.

From Akyaka you can take the dolmus (public bus) to Marmaris or Mugla, which has the largest market in the region (every Thursday) for a day trip drive to the ruined city of Ephesus, the travertine terraces of Pamukkale or the quaint village of Sirince.

We had a wonderful week here. The pictures don’t really do justice to the views which are outstanding. Beautiful unspoilt coastline that changes hues as the sun moves through the day. The villa is laid out to a high standard and has everything you need. Akyaka is a 10 min drive away and is a lovely, well preserved town with good restaurants, especially along the river. It is very much focused on well to do Turkish tourists and we think we must have been the only Brits there which suited us just fine. But as ever, the people are warm and friendly and there was plenty to do, river cruises and good modern bars to have a drink in. The Villa owner Bulent was very helpful organising taxis when we didn’t want to drive and to deal with any minor issues. The only advice is that the final stretch of road to the Villa is on loose track so be prepared for that. Car is essential, I’d say. All in all 11 out of 10!

We have just had a wonderful relaxing week at Eagle Heights. The pool and view is beautiful and the villa very comfortable for 3 people. The owner was extremely helpful and kind to us. A lucky break for 2020!
