The area is popular for its levada trails, with several walking routes winding through forested hillsides, farmland, and coastal ridgelines. For a rewarding local hike, the Levada Nova trail offers a mix of tunnels, waterfalls, and panoramic viewpoints.

Despite its remote feel, Ponta do Pargo has a handful of local eateries, bakeries, and a small supermarket for everyday essentials. A day trip to Funchal - around an hour’s drive - gives you access to the island’s capital, complete with its waterfront market, botanical gardens, and historic old town.
