About this property

Villa Valerio is the quintessential authentic Portuguese home, nestled in a tranquil spot and brimming with rustic charm, this home offers guests a slice of local life. Its pretty façade is a dazzling white-washed affair, accented by burnt orange and framed with creamy wooden shutters.

This majestic two storey home offers accommodation for up to six guests, across three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Set back within its own secluded, green and fragrant grounds, Villa Valerio offers privacy and tranquillity, within the spirit of low-key luxury.

This detached home is securely positioned behind a gated entrance, down a sweeping gravel drive, where guests will stop to draw breath as they take in the prettily cloistered dining veranda set under the dappled trellis shade, or the wrought-iron clad balcony and sun terrace which offers far-reaching views of rolling countryside.

Charmingly natural, the gardens offer space for children to roam freely, whilst swaying palm trees and tropical vegetation add to the authentic, rustic nature of this home, with its hints of Moorish influence. Enjoying a glass of local wine, whilst the catch of the day sizzles on the wood burning outdoor oven at evening time will be as good as it gets.

Ornate statues and pillar box red parasols by the pool simply add eccentric character to this delightful home. The interiors at Villa Valerio are refreshingly natural and home-like; artfully under-designed, this is a veritable ‘home-from-home’ - whilst every last comfort and detail has been covered.

Sumptuous proportions blend with semi-open plan spaces for an airy effect; finished with striking simplicity, there is a welcoming dining room, immaculately equipped farmhouse style kitchen and cosy lounge. With many artefects having a local reference, some solid timber antique furnishings, hand-painted porcelain and the grounds walled with local stone, this is every inch the genuine Algarvean county dwelling, finished with a little air of grace for a final layer of comfort and style!Villa Valerio is nestled in a tranquil spot just five minutes from the charming town of Armaçao de Pera (3 km), where a slice of local life can be sampled.

Bars, local restaurants offering typical Algarve cuisine and supermarkets are less than two kilometres away in the village of Pêra.

Armação de Pêra is a blend of somewhat weather-beaten buildings offering authentic cobbled atmosphere and sea front new builds. The old village to the east of the town by the fisherman’s beach offers more typical Algarve flavour. The 17th century fort remains; originally built to defend the village from pirates, this part of the town has a certain moorish charm.

Set between Carvoeira and Albufeira in central Algarve, Armação de Pêra was originally a small collection of Fishermans huts used by the inhabitants of nearby Pêra. Interestingly, the word Armação is a reference to a Moorish netting method that fishermen used to employ to to catch tuna - the primary industry and source of income for centuries in the Algarve.

Stretching the length of the town is the long, golden stretch of beach between Ponte da Galé and Senhora da Rocha including a backdrop of lime and sandstone cliffs, caves and coves to explore along the coast.

Venturing a little further, Albufeira is worth a day trip. Albufeira is the liveliest and busiest town on Portugal’s beautiful southern Algarve coastline. Previously a modest fishing village, it is now a well known coastal town brimming with holiday potential. Traditional charm by way of original Moorish flair, the ‘Old Town’ offers a little taste of historic and sleepy small-town authenticity. A stone’s throw from the quiet white-washed streets you will find the dynamic and edgy “Strip” for a buzzing nightlife experience.

For those who wish to venture further afield, day trips to Silves, Faro and Loule are worth considering. Boat and coastal tours offer a leisurely pace for exploring

The beaches along the coastline are wonderful. Whether it be long, lazy days on the loungers or taking advantage of the many water sports including deep sea fishing, windsurfing, diving or dolphin watching, the region is rich with natural beauty. The beach at Armaçao is 3.7 km distance.

There really is something for everyone in the southern Algarve region. Golf players (Salgados course, 6 km distance), or those who love water sports won’t be disappointed, whilst culinary enthusiasts can take advantage of the many restaurants offering rustic cuisine and seafood. The Villa
