This detached home is securely positioned behind a gated entrance, down a sweeping gravel drive, where guests will stop to draw breath as they take in the prettily cloistered dining veranda set under the dappled trellis shade, or the wrought-iron clad balcony and sun terrace which offers far-reaching views of rolling countryside.
Charmingly natural, the gardens offer space for children to roam freely, whilst swaying palm trees and tropical vegetation add to the authentic, rustic nature of this home, with its hints of Moorish influence. Armação de Pêra is a blend of somewhat weather-beaten buildings offering authentic cobbled atmosphere and sea front new builds. The old village to the east of the town by the fisherman’s beach offers more typical Algarve flavour. The 17th century fort remains; originally built to defend the village from pirates, this part of the town has a certain moorish charm.
Set between Carvoeira and Albufeira in central Algarve, Armação de Pêra was originally a small collection of Fishermans huts used by the inhabitants of nearby Pêra. Interestingly, the word Armação is a reference to a Moorish netting method that fishermen used to employ to to catch tuna - the primary industry and source of income for centuries in the Algarve.
