About this property

Set in a panoramic position, surrounded by the hills and beautiful scenery of Liguria, Villa Vitrum offers Italian charm alongside contemporary style and is a great base for exploring the world-famous Cinque Terre National Park as well as the romantic Golfo dei Poeti.

A modern home yet with an abundance of character, the interiors have been charmingly designed with great love whether it’s the old piano that proudly sits by the floor to ceiling glass door or the paintings and objets d’art that add appeal to the lovely living space. Antique furnishings lie alongside more contemporary pieces, yet there is always a sense of comfort as well as style. Upstairs the two striking double bedrooms allow space for up to four guests whilst a sofa-bed on the ground floor means this villa can sleep up to six people in all.

Enjoy wonderful views of the Ligurian countryside from the terraced gardens, a relaxing place to spend time whether dining al-fresco under the gazebo or swimming in the gorgeous swimming pool. On various levels, find a quiet spot for your morning coffee or sit in the sunshine with a good book and the sound of birdsong in the surrounding trees.

The villa is on the edge of a small village, neighbouring Villa dei Poeti and Casa Tinetto, and it’s great to be able to stroll out to a local pizzeria which also sells a few groceries. Within a short drive you can reach further restaurants serving authentic Ligurian cuisine and other amenities such as a bank and supermarket. This region offers glorious walking opportunities as well as many cycling trails through the hills and forests.

Yet despite this countryside setting, it’s just 20km to La Spezia, the gateway to the Cinque Terre National Park, now a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its history and beauty. Whether visiting by car, boat, train or following one of the many trails by foot, this area offers undulating scenery of olive groves, pine forests, vineyards, rocky shores and of course the five famous historic villages with the most spectacular views.

The Golfo dei Poeti is also waiting to be explored, a region which has inspired many artists and writers over the years including Byron and Shelley. A paradise for beach lovers, nature enthusiasts and walkers, discover idyllic bays and gorgeous villages across this coastline.

The beauty continues as you cross the border into northern Tuscany – spend the day in Pisa, Lucca or even Florence for yet more captivating experiences in this wonderful part of Italy.

In a panoramic position in the Ligurian countryside, just 25km from the incredible Cinque Terre National Park and also close to the border with Tuscany, Villa Vitrum is in a great location for exploring this glorious region.

The villa can be found on the edge of a small village, just a 2-minute walk from a pizzeria/cafe (which also sells basic groceries) whilst further amenities including restaurants, shops, a supermarket and bank can be found in a local village around a five-minute drive away. Shopaholics may also enjoy a trip to nearby Brugnato (11km) with its outlet shopping centre selling well-known brands.

Of course, one of the main draws to this area, other than the mesmerising Ligurian countryside, is the incredible Cinque Terre National Park. The nearest of the five famous villages, Monterosso al Mare, is around 25km away or you may prefer to drive to La Spezia (20km) where you can pick up a train to one of the villages or visit the coastline via a boat excursion. It’s also an ideal area to discover by foot with over 120km of hiking trails for various abilities, often passing through ancient olive groves, vineyards or following steep rocky paths with the most amazing sea views. The Via dell’Amore is especially well known between Manarola and Riomaggiore.

The Golfo dei Poeti is also not to be missed - come across charming seaside villages, idyllic bays and beautiful vistas that have inspired writers such as Byron and Shelley. Lerici (25km) is especially lovely with its beaches and picturesque setting whilst Tellaro (30km) is classified as one of Italy’s prettiest villages. It’s another ideal area for hiking whilst there are also plenty of diving opportunities as well as watersports in the summer months.

Crossing over the border into Tuscany, both Lucca (85km) and Pisa (85km) are wonderful days out (look at catching the fast train to Pisa from La Spezia) or experience the summer ambience of the vibrant Tuscan seaside resorts of Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio, both around an hour by car. Even Florence can be visited for a wonderful day out, just two hours away, as well as some of the idyllic historic villages across northern Tuscany.

Gorgeous villa in a small rustic village. The location is simply great! We loved the pool and the forest around as well as the athmosphere around. Visited Cinque Terre and Lerici few times. A car is a must if you want the beautiful villages of Liguria and Tuscany.

Nice stay. We loved it as much as the rooms. Lots of space, clean bathroom and comfortable beds. Quiet area and close to restaurants, supermarkets and highways. Good place to rest. :)

We had a two week holiday at this house, together with another couple of friends. The garden was really beautiful and fully fenced. The house was nicely divided into two separate areas which was perfect for our group. It is a nice peaceful location... near to beaches, restaurants, shopping, etc. We ate every evening outside. We were grateful for the air conditioning because it was unusually warm this year in July. We will definitely return to Villa Vitrum again!!!! Excellent value for money.
