About this property

A magnificent large Italian villa rental comprised of two semi-detached properties, in the desirable and conveniently central Italian region of Sabina. Nestled in the rolling landscape of pine forests and farms, this is a territory still untouched by mass tourism, yet only 50 kilometers north of Rome.

The semi-detached layout of the villa allows for large groups to travel together and take advantage of the stunning communal spaces whilst maintaining an element of privacy. The interior is entirely renovated and stands up as a prime example of classical Italian colonial style, complete with grand chimney and fireplace, and Tuscan terracotta floor tiling.

The entire villa is suitable for wheelchair access and has a disabled bathroom, a rare feature in such a traditional property.

The villa sits within the privacy of a neatly manicured garden with its own pergola dining terrace and private swimming pool, perched on a hill over looking the vineyards and olive groves. All guests also have access to their own tennis court, table tennis and a five-a-side football field.

The estate that Villa Rovani is located within produces a notable red wine and the local Sabina olive groves are credited with a reputable extra virgin olive oil. This property is the perfect base from which to explore the many nearby cultural and artistic attractions of central Italy, with Rome, Tuscany and Umbria all within a short day trip.

***For larger parties it is possible to rent sister properties Villa Conconi (sleeps 8) and Villa Faruffini (sleeps 8) virtually next door - please follow links for more information.

Villa Rovani lies in the Italian central region of Lazio, in a perfect position for sightseeing Rome and day trip to Umbria and Tuscany.

The Estate is located 7 km from the quaint town of Magliano Sabina, in the enchanting Sabina area, a region still authentic and unspoilt. In a landscape of gentle hills where agriculture is in perfect harmony with the surrounding nature, you'll find an array of Roman villas, medieval castles, churches and abbeys and many remains of Italy's historic, cultural, architectonic and artistic past.

Riding schools, golf courses, natural bolted cliffs for free climbing, along with Mount Terminillo, ski resorts offer sports lovers an uncontaminated natural environment in which to play.

The area is alive in winter and summer for the holiday of your choice. Along pleasant country roads, you can easily reach breathtaking places still unknown by tourists. The motorway A1, instead, gives you an easy and quick access to some of the most important artistic sights of central Italy, such as Viterbo, Orvieto, Spoleto, Perugia but also Arezzo, Florence and Siena. Rome itself is just a few miles away, and very easy accessible, in less then one hour, by train or car.

We had been thinking of and finally planning a family reunion for almost four years during which time our needs and availability changed. After much searching I found, to our delight, Villa Rovani. We were looking for a house that would fit eight adults, my father has mobility issues. It also needed a private pool with Roman steps - in the hope that we could all swim, and be close to a larger city. Villa Rovani checked all the boxes! Three bedrooms upstairs with en-suite bathrooms, one down with handicap facilities, and a gorgeous pool! The pool was a bit chilly at first but once in it was lovely - it was mid-September but my mother and I swam everyday! Villa Rovani is outside the hill town of Magliano Sabina in the most delightful countryside and yet is ONLY an hour from Rome, 45 mins to Orvieto and a little under two hours to Siena. The estate grows grapes and olives and has four homes to choose from depending on size of your party. The views from every window are spectacular! For those of you who are unfamiliar with this area, the countryside has rolling hills with Medieval hill towns perched on top, all reached by roads that wind through the picturesque countryside and along ridge lines offering dramatic views. I'd recommend staying here to anyone, it is so relaxing with the bonus of being so close to Rome yet a million miles away from the hurley burley!

We were looking for a large villa in a country setting with great proximity to both Rome and Tuscany. Villa Rovani was the perfect spot for our group of 2 families/9 adults. The villa was clean and spacious on a beautiful piece of land nestled in farm country, with great views of the Magliano Sabina countryside. It was perfect for outdoor dining, sunbathing, and swimming (private pool) and was a great way to begin and end busy days spent in Rome, Orvieto, and Montepulciano. The open floor plan was fantastic and we definitely made great use of the huge dining table in the very large family room. We hope that someday we can return to Italy and rent this property again.

We were 12, spread out in the big villa. We wanted to visit the Latium and have fun together. We used the villa as a base and visited: Viterbo, Palazzo Farnese in Capraiola, Bomarzo, Palazzo Ruspoli in Vignanello (about an hour's drive); a day in Assisi & Perugia (1.5 hours drive);the Vatican; Villa Adriana & Villa d'Este in Tivoli (about 1.5 hours drive). We enjoyed the Pizzeria next door and the nearby restaurant cooked two delicious meals for us; their sausages are a miracle! The house was great, comfortable, the beds an invitation to sleep. The silence is impressive and the view fantastic. I can recommend this place with all my heart and fondest memories.
