About this property

Set in picturesque gardens with views of the sea as far as Li Galli Islands, Casa Lapillo is a holiday home full of Campania charm, in a wonderful countryside setting with easy access to Sorrento, Positano and all that the Amalfi coast has to offer.

The interiors are delightful, all on one level and with the benefit of air-conditioning throughout. A welcoming living room offers plenty of characterful space whilst the kitchen-diner is a lovely place for tranquil breakfasts, with French doors leading out to a pretty vine-covered pergola for summery al-fresco meals. Three bedrooms can be made up as doubles or twins, each one individually styled with attractive furnishings, doors leading to the garden and the most exquisitely tiled en suite bathrooms.

Outside, the spacious garden features deck chairs on the large lawn looking out towards the sea, ancient olive trees and scented summer flowers to bring colour and yet more magic to this enchanting home.

Part of a vast estate, Casa Lapillo can be booked by itself or, on request only, in conjunction with neighbouring Li Galli View (which has its own swimming pool just in front of Casa Lapillo’s gardens).

Overlooked by the impressive Monte Vico Alvano, despite this countryside setting you are so close to so many sights of the Amalfi coast with easy access to the road between Sorrento and Positano. There’s also a small shop and restaurant you can stroll to whilst keen walkers can discover some of the hilly trails in the surrounding area.

Stunning Sorrento is a 15 to 20 minute drive away, surrounded by lemon fields, vineyards and olive groves whilst the romantic villages of Positano, Praiano and beyond can be reached via the dramatic coastal road heading east. Take boat trips out to the gorgeous island of Capri, admire the mesmerising scenery by sea-kayak or simply find a hidden rocky platform or little beach for swimming in the crystal-clear sea.

Then there’s amazing days out to Pompeii, Herculaneum or Mount Vesuvius, that’s if you can tear yourself away from the outstanding natural beauty of the magnificent Amalfi coast.

In the hills close to both Sorrento and Positano, Casa Lapillo enjoys a lovely position in pretty gardens facing the sea and looking out towards Li Galli islands. It is part of a larger estate, also featuring neighbouring Li Galli View (its swimming pool is just in front of Casa Lapillo’s gardens) and Isole Delle Sirene, as well as the owner’s own farmland including many olive trees.

It’s such a convenient countryside setting, with a small shop and simple trattoria within walking distance and other amenities close by. Furthermore, as you leave the electric gate you are just 200m from the road which leads north towards Sorrento and beyond or east to Positano, Praiano and other idyllic spots along the rugged coastline.

The gorgeous town of Sorrento is around a 15 to 20-minute drive away, much loved by visitors across the world for its historic charm and amazing views, surrounded by fruit trees and olive groves (with many wonderful walks). Potter around its narrow lanes filled with pretty shops, find delightful restaurants serving delicious Campania cuisine and admire the mesmerising views out to the sea. Make sure you try some hand-crafted limoncello or citrus-flavoured gelato made from lemons grown in the surrounding hills.

Boat trips depart Sorrento as far as the island of Capri for an enchanting day out (with a touch of glamour) or take tours along the Amalfi Coast. You can even catch summer ferries to Ischia and Procida on certain days and if you are wanting to visit Naples then consider travelling by high-speed ferry!

Positano is another one of the Amalfi Coast’s best-known gems with its incredible scenery and romantic ambience or you may prefer the slightly quieter atmosphere in Praiano, just a little further along the coast. Keen hikers can escape the coastal crowds for some amazing walks in this area, including the spectacular ‘Path of Gods’ (Il Sentiero Degli Dei).

Other highlights of this coastline include the unique fjord at Furore, a place adored by the Italian film director Fellini, and the pretty village and beaches near the spectacular Capo di Conca.

For a complete change of scene, spend the day exploring Pompeii or head to the magnificent Mount Vesuvius – there are plenty of guided tours available of both brilliant sites.

We were very pleased with our 60th birthday get away at Casa Lapillo ad all the team there were fantastic. We were greeted by Rosanna. who was just delightful and help in any way she could to make our stay wonderful. The first night she recommended a wonderful family-owned restaurant up the street for dinner. We visited it a number of times. The local market within walking distance was very helpful to keep us stocked of food for our family of 8 as well as stopping into the clothing linen shop that has been there for over 80 years was also a win! We did have to utilize the ride service quite a bit we all agreed that was better than trying to drive the curves of the Amalfi, not to mentioned it made it so everyone could enjoy Limoncello. Since we had 8 family members we would have needed a very large van and none of us would have wanted to drive that on the Amalfi. So highly recommend private transfer! Ours, Gianluca, was very accommodating and willing to try to get us a car when we needed it spur of the moment. I will say taking the local taxis from Sorrento was easy to get back to the Villa and a bit more cost effective as long as you knew exactly how to tell them to get to the villa, the castle on the hill finally did the trick as a landmark for most. We would love to come back and enjoy the beautiful Villa and wonderful linen sheets as well as see Rosanna.
