About this property

Located in the rural heart of Puglia you will find Trullo Mendula. This 250-year-old traditional Trullo building has been lovingly restored and is an idyllic base for your escape to Italy’s heel.

Tucked away on a small country lane with just a few other homes, olive groves and fields surrounding it, Trullo Mendula is a spacious family home which sits in 2 hectares of walled grounds. The location is perfect for a holiday as you can spend plenty of time relaxing in this peaceful setting and yet you are not isolated as the villa is in between Ceglie Messapica and Ostuni which are both lovely places to visit.

This light and airy home is made up of the main villa and an adjoining four-coned Trullo, a type of building specific to this area which is a quaint stone dwelling with a conical roof. In addition to this there is a charming separate annexe by the pool. In total the villa can sleep up to 12 guests and with 4 of these sleeping in the annexe this means the house is ideal for two families travelling together or a larger group of friends as you can spend time with each other when you wish to but also have your own space.

The home centres around a large open-plan room with sofas and dining table plus a fully-fitted kitchen which is a great place to unwind and chat over a meal.

You are likely to spend lots of time outside enjoying the weather in the vast garden where you will find a number of covered seating nooks and dining areas as well as a gorgeous private pool. This tranquil garden is an oasis filled with lawns, olive trees and native planting.

As the town has been settled since 700BC there is lots to see including the old quarter with its Ducal castle and art museum.

We spent an amazing 3 weeks here in September a few years back and had the time of our lives. Such great memories of a beautiful and relaxing Trullo house. We’ll be back.

We were staying at Trullo Mendula with a group of 12 people and had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful, furnished with lots of attention to detail and in a very traditional style that fits the area. All rooms (except the traditional one right beneath the Trullo style roof) come equipped with AC, which we did not need in early September as the thick walls kept the inside cool even during hotter days. Washer/dryer are available and the kitchen has everything you need to cook at home. Or, you can choose one of the great restaurants in the towns nearby that Adam provided a full list of before our stay. We really enjoyed our holidays and would gladly return! Be aware though that the WIFI is rather slow, which makes streaming or working remotely difficult.

We just returned from a wonderful week at Trullo Mendula. It is beautiful, comfortable and private, while being close to Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica for restaurants, groceries, etc..
