Sitting amongst olive groves and farmland in the heart of Puglia, you will find Trullo Cartellate; the home is a centuries-old, typically Puglian dwelling with iconic cone-shaped roofs and whitewashed walls. This traditional, agricultural house with expansive gardens is the perfect base for enjoying lazy days by the pool and visiting nearby towns such as the much-loved Trulli town of Alberobello, 21km away.
Only found in Puglia, Trulli are unique, cone-shaped homes which can be seen dotted around the countryside in this area. Trullo Cartellate comprises 8 of these cones, which all house different parts of the villa. All on one level, there is a living space with built-in seating, a kitchen and dining area with garden access, and three spacious bedrooms. All of the bedrooms offer double beds and en-suite bathrooms, with the master room offering a living space where two more guests could stay on the double sofa bed if needed.
The homeowners have lovingly restored this historic building to maintain the domes with stunning vaulted ceilings, exposed stonework and pretty alcoves inside. Alongside these period features, the home is equipped with all the modern conveniences that guests could wish for, including Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a TV with Netflix and a coffee machine.
Outdoors, guests can enjoy outdoor living in the temperate climate, dining al-fresco or reading on the outdoor sofas. There is also a private swimming pool and a summer kitchen, a useful space for preparing meals on the grounds.
When you wish to pick up some groceries, there is a wide array of shops, cafes, bars as well as restaurants, in the nearby town of Martina Franca, just 7km away from the villa. Ceglie Messapica (12km away) and Locorotondo (13km away) are also some charming towns you can visit nearby.
The villa is also just 25km from Puglia’s sweeping coastline, where you can choose from several beautiful beaches. Whether you prefer a long sandy beach, an exclusive beach club or a rocky swimming cove, you will find these dotted along the coast. Torre Canne beach is the nearest to the villa and is a great place to relax in the sun and swim in the clear water.
Trullo Cartellate is an authentically Puglian home amidst olive groves and serene farmland. From here you can enjoy walks or bicycle rides in the nearby countryside and spend your afternoons exploring historic towns, villages and beaches.
Although rolling hills envelop the home, you only have a short distance to travel to find the nearest amenities in the town of Martina Franca, just 7km away. The town is a beautiful place to have nearby and is a hidden gem off the usual tourist trails. The historic walled town comprises a maze-like, whitewashed old town and a picture-postcard Baroque area. Both parts of town boast shops, cafes and restaurants and you can also visit the grand ducal palace and ancient churches here.
Ceglie Messapica, just 12km away, is a lovely town with streets lined with artisan shops, cafés and patisseries where you can sample the locally made biscotti di Ceglie which is a sweet almond biscuit. There are also many restaurants, including family-run trattorias selling traditional Puglian dishes. The town also features attractions such as pre-historic ruins, monuments and a medieval palace with formal gardens.
While staying in Puglia, you can also spend time at some of Italy’s most breathtaking beaches. The closest beach, Torre Canne Beach, is just 25km away. This long sandy beach is perfect for making sandcastles and relaxing with friends or family. If you would like to visit a serviced, luxury beach club lined with sun loungers, you could drive to the beaches of the Savelletri coast. Here you can sip cocktails and tuck into delicious meals at beachside restaurants and bars or visit world-class golf clubs nearby. From the villa, you are also just 46km away from the picturesque beaches of Polignano a Mare, which is a must-visit location.
If you wish to arrange a special day out, why not book a hot air balloon ride over the stunning Val D’Itria and Trulli towns such as Locorotondo. You can take a balloon ride from the beautiful city of Ostuni, which is 19km from the villa. The magical balloon rides usually last around 2 hours and set off early in the morning.
