About this property

Lettermacaward 3 miles. This charming detached thatched cottage is situated just off the Wild Atlantic Way, in the hamlet of Cloughwilly near the village of Lettermacaward in West Donegal. With sandy beaches and seascapes, this delightful cottage is an ideal coastal destination for families and groups of friends. The cottage has a traditional thatched roof and character half door, and has been tastefully renovated from its original form to provide a home away from home, featuring all the quirks of an old cottage, but with all the modern comforts. There is a fitted kitchen with dining area, and a cosy sitting room with an open turf fire and original roof beams, where you can snuggle up with your loved ones with a hot drink and watch a movie. There are two double bedrooms and a twin bedroom with en-suite shower room, together with a family bathroom. Outside, there is a front lawned garden and a rear gravelled area with garden furniture and a barbecue, where you can relax with a refreshing drink whilst planning your next day’s activities. The small village of Lettermacaward is home to a local shop and pub and lies along the main road from Dungloe to Glenties, two vibrant Donegal towns, each with a selection of shops, pubs and eateries. With Ireland’s stunning Wild Atlantic Way on your doorstep, the area has plenty of attractions for young and old within easy reach, including the Blue Flag beach and golf course at Portnoo. You can visit the heritage town of Ardara with its colourful shops, traditional pubs and Irish charm, and the island of Inishfree, where you can step back in time and experience a place without cars or technology, and appreciate its raw stunning beauty. Further afield, there are the breathtaking sea cliffs at Slieve League, the sprawling wild beauty of the Glenveagh National Park and Arranmore Island, which is accessed via regular ferries from the fishing village of Burtonport. Donegal is famed for its magnificent coastlines, so why not hire some bikes and discover this glorious county and all that is has to offer? A wonderful cottage in the north west of Ireland, one to be enjoyed all year round! Note: This cottage can be booked with Ref. 10724, together they sleep 12.

The small village of Lettermacaward is on the beautiful west coast of County Donegal, and is home to shops, pubs and lovely sandy beaches. Dooey Beach is remote and secluded, and has great choppy surf, ideal for watersports. A fantastic little village all year round.

The cottage is very comfortable with everything you could need.It was interesting to read about and see photos of the restoration process. We spent our days dog walking on various beaches , all within a 30 minute drive. The scenery is stunning and we were lucky to enjoy it in warm dry weather. All in all we had a relaxing time and hope to return to Tar Ar Ais soon.

I found the location ideal. Only 10 mins from Dungloe which had everything we needed. Only downside there were roadworks on the N56 which was a bit of a pain but that was nobody fault and would only be temporary. Beautiful outdoor facilities also. Loved every thing about it and would highly recommend for a family holiday.

The open fire made for very cozy evenings on cooler days and when the sun was out we were sitting outside overlooking the sea. Gorgeous! Within a close driving distance are the most spectacular beaches for walks and swims and there are several other things to do apart from that too.
