What our customers say about their holidays

      We had a wonderful week.

Lovely welcome from Abina and Tim. The cottage was comfortable, well equipped and delightful. Set in the countryside within easy distance of so many nearby sights. We went to Blarney Castle, Gougane Barra, a stunningly beautiful national park, Kilmichael ambush site, Union Hall, Glandore and Rineen on the coast, kayaking around some amazing scenery, Brandon and Dunmanway, where there was great history to discover. The Methodist Church in Dunmanway is now occupied by the historical society and has a superb collection of local historical artifacts and information. Vivianne and Tim were very helpful. We spent a few fascinating hours there discovering the real history of the area. St Mary's Church in Dunmanway has recently gained 8 new church bells, we were taken up to the belfry and allowed to ring tunes. Locals have knitted a copy of the Sam MacGuire cup for the All Ireland GAA competition and it sits on the window ledge in pride of place. The churchyard is where Sam MacGuire is buried. The last Friday of the month in the Greyhound bar in Dunmanway, locals come together to sing their Irish songs. A true delight. All in all a superb holiday and would completely recommend.

      The incredible historic home

Chance brought me to Kilraven Mansion at Laurel Walk, and I’m glad it did. I booked the incredible historic home to be the center base for a work project, and Kilraven Mansion indeed served as our “center.” It was a place we could gather easily, and we found its joyful warmth restorative for our long days. Miriam, the owner, has everything you need to feel comfortable. If not, she’ll have information close at hand, including a personal chef who made us an unforgettable local gourmet meal. The home and grounds are incredibly gorgeous and capture country life lived the right way. In the days following my visit, I wished I had booked one more day to enjoy the home without work on my mind – to read a book curled up on the couch, to enjoy a glass of wine on a chaise lounge out on the lawn, and such. I hope chance brings me back to Kilraven Mansion, but this time, for fun and family time.

We absolutely loved our stay at sandrum Brook.

What a delightful cottage, fully equipped for all our needs. They field was ideal for the dogs and we played swing ball and volleyball on it too. The fire and chimney were used most nights as were the board games and cards left in cottage. We sat outside watching the sunsets and stars lovely end to beautiful days. Really good base for day trips round Ireland, we had a wonderful time with the perfect base to come home to. We had a power outage on the day of the England final the owners were very helpful and the problem was resolved before the start of the match (sadly we lost) Charlie vile has lots of shops and has everything you need, the local pubs are also worth a visit with music played at weekends.. We would definitely stay again and were very sad to leave this little piece of heaven.

The owners (Tim and Abina) are two of the loveliest people you’d ever meet.

They are super friendly, and will make sure you have everything you need. For example, the fire was blazing when we arrived after dark on our first night and the table was set ready for a meal. They also have a wealth of knowledge of the area which they are happy to share including lots of brochures for the local towns available in the porch for use during your stay. The cottage is in a great location for exploring as it’s quiet and remote with great views but is a close 5 minute drive to town with plenty of shops, pubs etc. It’s well equipped in the kitchen for self catering and the bed was comfortable. The owner needs to set the boiler for the radiators but there’s a fireplace for additional heating or drying wet clothes. A good traditional Irish farm stay.

Gorgeous, elegant, warm, inviting and comfortable grand home

Only problem: We did not stay long enough! Gorgeous, elegant, warm, inviting and comfortable grand home in an idyllic setting with beautifully maintained grounds. But Kilraven Mansion’s charm is surpassed by gracious, attentive owner, Miriam and her daughters. Truly, the epitome of Irish hospitality, generosity and gracious living. Some of our favorite memories will always be the kids playing cards on the floor while the adults relaxed in front of the nightly lit fire. But the most amazing highlight was the spectacular dinner created by private chef, Shane, on our final night. Beautiful memories to last a lifetime. Our party of 10 with ages from 7 to 83 all left with full hearts and memories to last a lifetime. Looking forward to returning.
