Further afield are the beauties of County Cork, with a half an hour drive to Clonakilty to the East, or why not travel West and grab a ferry from Baltimore over to the tranquillity of Sherkin Island, Hillview is a beautiful spot from which to explore the southern areas and rugged coast of County Cork.
Castletownshend is a coastal village near Skibbereen in County Cork. The local attractions are the 17th century castle, the quayside and harbour.
A few miles down the road, the town of Skibbereen offers a range of shops and restaurants, the West Cork Arts Centre and Skibbereen Heritage Centre. There is also a golf course, and an indoor sports centre. A terrific base for enjoying this part of Cork.
