About this property

Kilmore 2.1 miles. Perched on the outskirts of Tomhaggard, Co. Wexford, is this charming, three-bedroom traditional Irish cottage, Cob Cottage. Enjoying a fabulous countryside setting on a family-run working farm, where guests are welcome to wander the grounds to see the chicken and ponies, as well as easy access to the beaches of Ballyhealy and Kilmore Quay, Cob Cottage is a wonderful base for a group or family of four. Be welcomed into the inviting open-plan living space, where you can look forward to relaxing on the plush leather seating in front of the crackling woodburning stove, as you select a family favourite to enjoy on the TV. Impress your guests with mouth-watering meals, conjured up in the well-equipped kitchen, featuring a handy washing machine, ready to enjoy at the dining table for six over a celebratory bottle of fizz. After dinner, why not catch the last of the sun’s rays out in your private garden? Completing the ground floor is a well-presented double bedroom, ideal for those with limited mobility, served by a cloakroom. Upstairs, you will find two additional bedrooms, an additional double and a twin, all of which have plenty of storage for your belongings. In the morning, wake-up tired eyes with a soak in the bath or refreshing shower, before taking the little ones out to collect fresh eggs from the farm, ready to cook up a hearty breakfast ahead of a day of adventure. Explore your local surroundings, where nearby you will find the welcoming pub of Greenacres, where you can sample the local ales, and in nearby Kilmore, a selection of bars and a well-stocked convenience store for picking up any essentials. On those evening’s when you don’t feel like cooking, take the short drive over to Kilmore, where you can indulge in a tasty meal at the award-winning gastropub of Mary Barry’s, which also provides a complimentary taxi service late into the evening to escort you home! Continue onto the quay, where you can enjoy leisurely strolls around the picturesque harbour, tuck-in to fresh fish and chips or spend the day on Kilmore Quay Beach. For more seaside fun, Ballyhealy Beach is also nearby, with golden sands, perfect for building sandcastles with the little ones or exploring rock pools. The bustling town of Wexford is well worth a visit, here you can catch a live performance at the National Opera House, test out your swing at the excellent Wexford Golf Club, visit the fascinating ruins of Selskar Abbey or enjoy a leisurely stroll around the Irish National Heritage Park. For a getaway with something for everyone, choose Cob Cottage.

Just nine miles from Wexford's beautiful sands lies the charming rural community of Kilmore in County Wexford. Bridie's Bar, the local pub, serves both a refreshing pint and a well-stocked convenience shop where you can fill up on all of your favourite goodies. Tractor rides and pumpkin picking are available at Ballycross Apple Farm, just outside the hamlet. You can visit Kilmore Quay, an idyllic fishing community with many mansions dating from the late 19th century. Take a boat ride out of Kilmore Quay, or relax on the beach dunes for a few hours. The house has everything you need for a home away from home. Spacious bedrooms, well appointed kitchen and comfy lounge area made it the perfect place to relax after a day exploring. Everything was spotlessly clean. Billy, Rosanne and family were super hosts, very friendly and welcoming, with plenty of recommendations (and fresh eggs!). And we all enjoyed the animal neighbours, especially the two friendly dogs and all the lovely horses. Cob Cottage was a great base to explore Wexford. Our daughter hasn’t stopped talking about it since we left and we all look forward to returning.

Billy and Roseanne were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. The cottage was so cosy and had everything you could possibly need. Our little one woke up every morning excited to see Pippa and Poppy (their dogs!), the chickens, horses and the beautiful cat! Billy and Roseanne introduced their children to our little one too, and they had a wonderful time playing with one another! He still talks about them all to this day. It was perfect. The area was very tranquil and we enjoyed going on long walks in the local area. Billy provided us with some excellent food recommendations, our favourite being Mary Barry’s. The food and service were both outstanding. You must check this out if staying at Cob Cottage! All in all, we had a fabulous time and we absolutely cannot wait to return in the future.
