This lovely detached property, next to the owner’s home, is situated in an elevated position overlooking the village of Ballinamuch, County Longford, near to the border with Leitrim. One of three lovely holiday cottages, it is set amongst one acre of the owner’s shared gardens and is ideal for a family wishing to get away from it all. The cottage is pet friendly and the owners would only be too delighted for guests to bring along their pets, with the owners having a little dog also. The cottage is all on the ground floor and from the side entrance there is a large open plan living area with well-equipped kitchen, dining area and a sitting room with lovely views over the front garden, and a welcoming place to gather together and discuss your plans for exploring the countryside in the next days. This lovely cottage also has two bedrooms, one is a family bedroom with one double bed and one single and a twin bedroom with has an en-suite shower. A family bathroom completes the accommodation. Outside, you can enjoy the late afternoon sunshine in the shared grounds whilst enjoying dining alfresco on the patio. The owner is a keen angler, and with two boats at his disposal, is happy to take you out on a fishing trip to one of the many local lakes. The village of Ballinamuck, and its range of amenities including the pet friendly pub, is just a short walk from your charming country cottage. Surrounded by attractive scenery dotted with tranquil lakes and low-lying hills, there are plenty of walks and cycling routes to discover practically from the door. Ballinamuck Battle Heritage Centre is an interesting place to visit before enjoying one of the historic walks around the battlefield. A little further afield is Carrick-on-Shannon, a popular inland resort with its vibrant music and arts scene and busy marina where you’ll find excellent restaurants. There are many activities in the area which would suit everyone including many watersports, horse riding and golf, you will never be at a loss for something to do. The historic village of Ballinamuck is situated in the north of County Longford, close to the borders of Leitrim and Cavan. Literally translated to ‘mouth of the ford of the pig’, Ballinamuck is a wonderful area to discover the mass of farmland, lakes, low lying hills and pristine boglands of North Longford. Ballinamuck was once the site of the Battle of Ballinamuck and there is a local heritage centre which houses an interesting exhibition of the events of the battle.
