Set within easy reach of the wonderful Wild Atlantic Way, this coastal cottage near Ballycastle has been sympathetically renovated, retaining all the character features of a traditional Irish cottage, including a feature fireplace. This Ballycastle cottage has been tastefully decorated and lovingly furnished throughout to offer guests a superb getaway, with three cosy but bright bedrooms, so up to five guests can enjoy a holiday here. The open plan living accommodation encompasses a warm and inviting sitting area, complemented by a solid fuel stove for winter nights, along with a charming fitted kitchen and dining area. The village of Ballycastle lies on County Mayo’s West Coast and is home to two shops, a selection of charming pubs where you can sample a traditional pint of Guinness in the company of the friendly locals and Mary's Cottage Kitchen, where you can enjoy home-cooked locally sourced food, and just one mile away is Ballycastle's sandy beach. Ballycastle sits just a stone’s throw from Downpatrick Head, one of the key discovery points along the route of the famous Wild Atlantic Way, and is the perfect place to stretch your legs and discover the great outdoors. The name is derived from St Patrick himself, and legend has it that the last snake was driven from Ireland from the edge of this cliff. The remains of a church can still be seen along with the iconic sea stack of Dun Briste, and as you gaze out to sea, you will also spot a collection of small islands, the Stags of Broadhaven, jutting through the swirling waves in the distance. Other nearby attractions include the Ceide Fields heritage site, Enniscrone Blue Flag beach in neighbouring County Sligo, and the Foxford Woollen Mills. After a week at this delightful Mayo cottage, you will certainly return feeling rested and refreshed!

Ballycastle is a small but thriving village, whose ancestry and heritage can be experienced at the Ceide Fields Centre, where you can visit the Interpretative Centre which is built beside one of the world’s oldest Stone Age monuments. The spectacular cliffs at Ceide reach 365m, and offer sensational, panoramic views, and the area also offers an abundance of splendid sandy beaches.
