Access the grounds of the villa through the impressive double wooden doors. Enter Villa Zafina at ground floor level, where you will be welcomed by a bright and breezy open plan living space, with picture postcard windows that reward the guest with panoramic sea views. The seating area is seriously smart, with an L-shaped sofa and armchair, arranged around coffee tables, facing a flat-screen television, and an enclosed wood-burning fire for those cooler months and evenings. The six-seater dining set makes for some splendid indoor dining. The adjacent kitchen is fully equipped with all the latest appliances, and if you don’t fancy cooking, a private chef and staff are on hand to cater for you. The first of five fabulously-appointed bedrooms can be found on this floor, with twin beds, an ensuite shower room, and access to the sea view veranda.
Take the stairs to the first floor, where there are two further double bedrooms, with ensuite marble shower rooms, and sea-view balconies. Nestled between the two bedrooms is an office space with a table and chair. The Guest Apartment has its own independent entrance or can be accessed via an internal staircase. Here you will find an open-plan living space, with a sofa, chairs, a bookcase, and a galley-style kitchen. Two double bedrooms share a bathroom. Pamper yourself in the beauty room, with its own hairdressing station, massage table and relaxation area. To keep you in shape whilst on your holiday, the state of the art gym is equipped with the latest machines, free weights, and yoga mats, as well as Personal Trainers and Yogis at your disposal.
The outside space is breathtakingly beautiful, with panoramic sea views, a tiled terrace, and a decked pool area. The ecological hydromassage infinity swimming pool with a reverse wave system, is surrounded by modern mesh sun loungers and shady parasols. Seek shade in the soft seating spot, then take a walk in the manicured gardens and pick some herbs for supper. As dusk falls take a seat at the outdoor dining table, and feast alfresco on dishes freshly grilled on the barbeque, as you raise a toast to the most memorable holiday under the twinkling stars.
Villa Zafina can be found sitting on the slope of Kefalmandouko, on the west coast of the island of Corfu, boasting uninterrupted vistas over the azure Ionian Sea, The villa is a three-kilometre drive from the international airport of Ioannis Kapodistrias, near to Gouvia Marina to moor your super yacht, and not far from the port for the island hoppers.
In front of the villa is a small sandy beach, with easy entry into the crystal clear waters of the Ionian Sea. The west coast of Corfu is populated with beautiful beaches. For watersports head to Glyfada and Kontogialos, for peace and quiet try Ermones, and for families, you can’t beat Agios Gordios.
The villa and island offer a whole host of activities to keep you fit on holiday, including personal training, yoga, Pilates, hiking, mountain biking, cycling, walking tours, snorkelling and scuba diving, horse riding, water rafting, and sailing. For those who want to practice their swing, an international golf course is only a few kilometres from the villa.
Villa Zafina is in the neighbourhood of Mandouki, with lots of historic seventeenth-century churches, adjacent to Venetian mansions all set on quaint stone pathways.
The nearby unesco World Heritage site of Corfu Old Town is well worth a visit. The old town can be traced back to ancient Greece, with a melting pot of Venetian architecture, French influences, and English rule. Follow the winding streets to discover ancient fortresses and palaces, Byzantine and Archaeological museums, destination squares, thirty-seven churches and a cathedral, souvenir shops, and a whole host of inviting restaurants, cafes, and bars. Visit Achilleion Palace, once the summer home of Sisi, Elizabeth, Empress of Austria. Take a trip to Mon Repos Palace, the original summer residence of the King of Greece, and birthplace of Prince Philip. Get a taste of Corfu with an olive oil or wine tour, sample the delights, and then take some home with you.
If it’s nightlife you are after, many of the beach clubs offer after-sundown sets, top of the list is Pazuzu Club in Glyfada or Fabrica at Acharavi. Party until dawn at the holiday hot spot destinations of Sidari, Acharavi or Kavos, or take a gamble at the Corfu Casino.
Venture further afield with a trip to Benitses Bay, where you can take daily boat trips, better still ask the concierge to organise a private charter and cruise along the shore, or island hop to Paxoi and Antipaxoi.
