Agios Nikolaos, the capital of Lasithi, is a coastal town on the North-East side of Crete. This part of the Greek island is well known for its unspoiled beaches, local cuisine and authentic heritage. Think idyllic fortresses, gorges and mountains. It’s located on enviable hilly terrain and overlooks the Mediterranean Sea. With plenty to see and do, it’s perfect for families and friends alike.

There you’ll find an attractive harbour and Voulismeni Lake, a small lagoon, whose pedestrianised shore is lined with plenty of local restaurants, shops and cafés. You can taste local cuisine like fresh seafood, Cretan cheeses or Dakos – chopped tomato, cheese, herbs and olive oil placed on top of Paximadi (bread).

For lazy afternoons spent by the sea, you can use the villa’s private beach or visit Kitroplatia Beach. This popular stretch of coastline has clear waters and is ideal for children and anyone looking for a beautiful coast that’s close to all amenities of the town. There’s also Almyros Beach – a large sandy stretch set in a sheltered cove, and the water is shallow so children can swim there safely.

From Agios Nikolas, you can catch a ferry to the island of Spinalonga, where there’s an old Venetian fortress. To begin with - many thanks to all the Resort team for our amazing holiday. We stayed at Villa Eross for 11 days in July and frankly, I would stay there for all the summer if only I could ;)) We have been on Crete several times before and my expectations were more or less formed by the experience, but this hotel surprised us in all the positive ways. Everything here is about WOW factor! Location is unique, the bay with clear water is beyond you imagination. I would go so far as to say it rivals Sardinia in its beauty Villa Eross offers incredible views from everywhere and sea view here gets completely different meaning - it is spectacular Our villa was very spacious and elegant; bedroom was huge, king size bed extremely comfy. Bathrooms are luxurious and everything is completely clean. Should I mention sea views from every window and every terrace? Bed linen, cosmetics, air conditioning and all the equipment are top quality, The resort has very romantic and fashionable vibe and of course is very couple oriented, but it is surprisingly kids friendly in the same time, It is beyond my understanding how they combine it - bit it really works :) Beach is gorgeous, with very trendy restaurant and bar and nice attentive staff. Sometimes seawater was a bit cold or there were windy days but in July, it was a positive change. Cuisine is really very - very good, they offer nice variety of local food and Mediterranean classics as well as some light and healthy options. Breakfasts are rich and a la cart restaurants are very reasonable in prices so there is really no need to go out. Tennis court - top quality Nearest villages are charming and rustic and it takes only 10 - 15 min to get there My main concern before coming here was the territory of the resort, possibility to walk around and let me tell you it was unreasonable worry. It is created like a small village in the bay and you have streets, shops even panoramic funiculars to move around. The only minor complaint is probably that housekeeping is a bit slow (not all of them, but on some days). In addition, I would appreciate some life music during breakfasts and dinners (not only for magic Mondays on the beach - that are by the way fantastic and not to be missed) Overall – superb place and I cannot wait to come back next year
