About this property

The blue shuttered windows frame the prettiest of Luberon views at this gorgeous countryside home close to the medieval village of Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt. Whether gazing out towards the olive groves and hills from the terrace, cooling off in the swimming pool or relaxing in the garden by the roses, this is a picture-perfect base for making the most of this captivating part of Provence.

Maison Du Ciel Rose sleeps up to 12 guests across this inviting home with three beautiful bedrooms in the main house, one in a vine-covered annexe and two more in a stone cottage also within the grounds. There is a range of queen-size double and twin beds whilst each bedroom has its own private bath or shower room. They have been decorated with such care – admire charming furnishings, artwork and, best of all, those mesmerising Luberon vistas from many of the bedrooms.

The country kitchen is a chef’s dream – pick up a wealth of seasonal produce from local markets to cook up Provençal feasts to be enjoyed outside on the terrace overlooking the swimming pool and olive trees below. The lounge’s corner sofa surrounds the grand fireplace and the snug is the ideal spot to cosy up and watch the Smart TV.

Sip coffee by the roses as family members or friends swim in the large swimming pool, then soak up the warm summer sun on the poolside terrace with the Luberon views glistening in the distance. When you feel ready to leave your slow-paced getaway, it’s less than a 5km drive to the perched medieval village of Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt with its inviting restaurants, cobbled lanes, old stone fountains and beautiful doorways surrounded by yet more glorious Provençal scenery. Don’t miss the Tuesday morning market and make sure you try the local cherries, olive oil and wine produced near the village.

The Saturday morning market in nearby Apt is another great experience, the largest in the Luberon with up to 300 stalls in the summer months. Other wonderful places to visit include the iconic perched villages of Roussillon, Gordes, Bonnieux and Lourmarin, all classified as ‘Plus Beaux Villages de France’.

Discover incredible walking and hiking opportunities, come across amazing restaurants and pretty markets and cycle past poppy and lavender fields as you explore the Luberon and beyond. Kayak or canoe along the Sorgue River from Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, potter around the antique stores of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and you could even venture to two jewels of Provence for a grand day out with Avignon and Aix-en-Provence both around an hour away by car.

Surrounded by the dreamy landscapes of the Luberon, Maison Du Ciel Rose is a fine base for exploring this captivating region of Provence, close to the medieval perched village of Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt and only 7.5km from Apt and its famous Saturday morning market.

Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt can be reached via car in less than 5km, sat in the foothills of the Vaucluse mountains. It’s a very pretty village to explore and its known for its surrounding cherry orchards, lavender fields, olive trees and vineyards – look out for the charming market showcasing some of these seasonal products on a Tuesday morning. As you stroll around the old part of the village it feels like a step back in time with its narrow lanes, ancient doorways, shuttered houses and stone fountains. Walk up to the castle ruins to appreciate glorious views of the Provençal landscapes before returning to one of the inviting village restaurants serving delicious French fare.

This location is excellent for reaching Apt (7.5km), the Luberon’s largest town and home to the region’s best market on a Saturday morning. With a rich heritage dating as far back as Roman times, admire the town’s grand fountains, handsome houses and wonderful shops, some showcasing the regional speciality, candied fruit. There are lots of restaurants and bars, a great way to soak up the town’s bustling ambience.

Elsewhere, the red-hued perched village of Roussillon (11km) is just over a 15-minute drive away, whilst other iconic villages of the Luberon include Gordes (18km), Bonnieux (18km), Lourmarin (24km), all officially classified as France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’. Venturing further afield, admire the historic sites of the small city of Avignon (55km) by the banks of the Rhône River or head south towards the university town of Aix-en-Provence (65km) to soak up its charming Provençal ambience and visit the café terraces, museums and art galleries including Paul Cézanne’s former art studio.

Lovely place as described. Beautifully decorated and welcoming house with a separate annex and self-contained cottage. Lots of space/privacy for larger groups. A delightful terraced area overlooks the pool, olive groves and neighbouring vineyards of Luberon. The owner was very kind and helpful during our stay. Would love to go back.

Beautiful French country estate on a hillside surrounded by vineyards. The home and grounds were beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. There are 3 separate homes on the property in order to fit 12 guests, each offering a unique experience. A short drive gets you to a cafe's and boulangeries.

The house is absolutely incredible. I couldn’t imagine a better way to spend our time. Beautiful views at all times of the day, tasteful decorations and plenty of space for a group. I can’t wait to return to this amazing home.
