About this property

Gather with family or friends for al-fresco lunches beneath the century-old plane tree before dipping in your private swimming pool set in the beguiling Provençal garden. This beautiful mas offers such a relaxing holiday experience, well located for visiting the idyllic landscapes and pretty villages of the Luberon.

Mas Luberon is a traditional farmhouse that has been sensitively and tastefully restored to create such a welcoming holiday home for Francophiles seeking an authentic yet comfortable Provençal getaway. It’s charm will captivate you as you relax in one of the characterful lounges or cook up a feast in the spacious and stylish kitchen. The house can sleep 10-12 guests across five bedrooms, each with a private bathroom including a master double with its very own terrace overlooking the swimming pool and Luberon hills.

Even in a large group, you will always be able to find a quiet spot for reading or simply soaking up the historic ambience of this special abode. Outside, the gardens are enchanting with shady trees, plants, hidden pathways and secret corners. Gather by the large 12x6m swimming pool for convivial family fun on warm summer days, surrounded by the tranquillity of the vast grounds.

Slightly off the tourist trail between Apt and Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt, this region is filled with cherry trees and vineyards – indeed, there are a couple of neighbouring wine châteaux for tastings and purchases. Fetch your morning croissants and fresh bread from the boulangerie in the local village just 3km away and don’t miss the Saturday morning market in nearby Apt, the largest in the region showcasing a wealth of gastronomic delights from across southern France. Take time to potter around Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt admiring handsome doorways along its historic lanes, before stopping off for a bite to eat in a traditional café-bar.

Other highlights include Roussillon, Bonnieux, Gordes and Lourmarin where you can follow the footsteps of artists and writers who have been so inspired by the scenery of this region. For more wonderful days out, discover wine-tasting, summer lavender fields as well as a wealth of hiking trails and cycling routes across the incredible landscapes of the Luberon.

Perfectly positioned for exploring the many villages of the Luberon, Mas Luberon is located a short drive from the handsome market town of Apt, just over an hour from Marseille Airport (85km). If arriving via train, Gare d’Avignon TGV (56km) has direct arrivals Paris and Lille.

This region is filled with cherry orchards and vineyards – indeed there are two neighbouring wine châteaux for wine-tasting opportunities. The nearest bakery, restaurant and café-bar are in a small Provençal village only 3km away. Meanwhile, Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt (7km) is a little further north, a very charming and authentic Luberon village, slightly off the usual tourist track, with beautiful doorways, a handful of bars and restaurants and a Tuesday morning market no doubt showcasing the region’s cherries and lavender when in season.

To the south is the town of Apt (3.5km) with excellent restaurants, shops, large supermarkets and the wonderful Saturday morning market, the largest in the region. The bustling market takes over Place de la Bouquerie and its surrounding streets selling seasonal fruit and vegetables, wine, olives, cheese, flowers, lavender, fabrics, crafts, clothes and so much more – it really is a unique experience and a great way to stock up on delicious produce from southern France.

Meanwhile, other iconic Luberon villages to visit include Roussillon (15km), Bonnieux (16km), Gordes (22km) and Ménerbes (24km) or venture south to pretty Lourmarin (22km), so loved by Albert Camus. Discover hiking trails through the hills as well as cycling routes passing spectacular scenery across the Luberon.

Then there’s the famous lavender of the Luberon - you will usually pass blooming fields from late June to early August. Admire swathes of lavender around Simiane la Rotonde (24km) and Sault (32km) or take your camera to Sénanque Abbey (27km) when visiting Gordes. The Lavender Museum is located around half an hour away in Coustellet, not far from the Musée de l'Huile d'Olive.

Staying at Mas Luberon was the perfect holiday break for our family. 10 of us just had the very best time. The house is so beautiful and comfortable. Huge bedrooms with large comfy beds, every one with large en suite bathrooms with bath and shower. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to a high standard and made it easy to prepare regular meals for 10 or more. The house feels so civilised and aesthetically pleasing, with marvellous quirky paintings and sculpture and a fascinating collection of books. A truly beguiling atmosphere. The massive swimming pool is the perfect temperature, just cold enough to be refreshing. The garden itself is beautiful, from the giant plane tree that watches majestically over the pool, to all the little areas where one can sit and read or paint or eat, dotted all over the plot. Magical. The location is perfect with great Provençal views over the Luberon. The local Boulangerie in Villars 5 minutes away has delicious croissants, baguettes etc made in an ancient giant stone oven! E. Leclerc supermarket is 10 minutes away with absolutely everything you might need. The bars, restaurants, shops and markets in Apt and other towns close by are all fantastic. Literally next door are two fine wine making chateau's who offer lovely tasting experiences and the chance to stock up on essential supplies! Lastly, the incredibly helpful caretaker welcomed us and showed us round with great care and charm and even had an interpreter on hand to cope with my schoolboy French! Thank you everybody. We had the most perfect perfect time. We will definitely be back!

We have now returned to Sweden after our one month holiday in France. The stay in the Mas Luberon house was the highlight of our trip. Beautiful home that works great for many families, we loved it!

We had an absolutely delightful stay at Mas Luberon. To me the house was the most beautiful I stayed in so far, very personal, very cosy, very ... everything! It was very nice to have some in-between-cleaning and change of towels and sheets. The pool was very well maintained. I have no complaints whatsoever-and also, it was very easy to communicate with the caretaker. I would have stayed for another week, had it been possible!
