About this property

The owners of this fine stone walled Provençal house have done everything possible to create an unforgettable holiday experience for everyone who stays here. On the edge of a charming village in the pine forests of the Vaucluse it’s only a few minutes’ drive from L’ Isle-sur-La-Sorge with Avignon, Luberon and many of the region’s exquisite towns and villages easily accessible.

Relax by the large pool in the fine Mediterranean garden, gaze at the forest backdrop and enjoy complete privacy from the outside world amidst the pine trees. After basking in the sun enjoying the fragrance of lavender and rosemary, stroll inside the fully air-conditioned villa for a glass of wine still relishing the outdoors showcased through the wide glass doors. There is ample dining space for long sociable meals both inside or al-fresco on the spacious terrace beneath the stars.

One of the three ground-floor bedrooms has a private terrace for quiet moments while older children or adventurous grown-ups will enjoy the excitement of ascending the spiral staircase to the fourth bedroom upstairs. You might want to treat yourselves to the luxury of some of the additional services available at the villa such as arriving to a well-stocked fridge, grocery deliveries, wine tasting chez vous and cycle tours.

In the Vaucluse you’ll find the landscapes of Provence which inspired so many impressionist painters. Springtime heralds delightful almond, cherry and apricot blossoms while early summer brings vibrant fields of lavender, sunflowers and scarlet poppies. Olive trees, melons and truffles are abundant in the pretty hilltop villages of the Luberon and the renowned vineyards of the Rhône Valley host various wine tours.

Leave the historic fountains and lovely restaurants of your pretty village and travel southwards to nearby L’Isle-sur-La-Sorge which is so well known for its canals, antique shops and art galleries while Carpentras has a great market and many walking trails and wine circuits. Take a magical excursion from the village of Bédoin to watch the sun rise over Mont Ventoux or explore one of its fabulous biking or hiking trails. Be sure to visit Gordes, a beautiful hilltop village much loved by Van Gogh and with wonderful views over the Luberon forests.

You’ll find Villa Pinède on the edge of a charming village within the pine forests of the Vaucluse, a small region in south-east France sometimes described as the heart of Provence, stretching from the Rhône Valley to the Luberon massif with the Hautes-Alpes a dramatic northern boundary.

Start your holiday by exploring the village, around a 20-minute walk away (along the road), cool yourself at one of its many fountains, browse in the pretty shops and covered market or enjoy lunch at one of its restaurants. The Provençal market takes place on a Saturday morning whilst there is a local Farmer’s market on a Wednesday evening.

It’s only a short drive to the pretty town of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (11km), wrapped around by the river and renowned for its antique shops, art galleries and flea markets. Canals pass peacefully through ancient streets with little bridges and a few remaining paddlewheels which once provided the energy for the 18th century silk factories. The Sunday morning brocante in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is known to be one of the best in the south of France.

The colourful market town of Carpentras (8km) has elegant 17th and 18th century mansions with beautiful doors and balconies – there are marked walking trails and wine circuits just outside the town. The bustling market takes place on a Friday morning.

Bédoin (22km) is a lovely agricultural village found at the foot of mythical Mont Ventoux with one of the largest and most diverse forests in France. There are some fantastic hiking and biking trails here - look out for one of the last few shepherds of Bédoin tending the sheep with their dog or take an excursion which enables you to experience the magic of the sun rising over the mountain.

Heading towards the idyllic Luberon region, Gordes (25km) is a beautiful stone village perched on the end of the Plateau of the Vaucluse, made of local stone and with wonderful views over the Luberon forests. One of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ and much loved by Van Gogh, there are more fantastic walking and mountain biking trails which start here and go in every direction through the surrounding hills and forests. Try the 8km loop trail into the valley below Gordes to find the wonderful Abbey de Sénanque where the monks produce honey, lavender and liqueurs.

The papal city of Avignon (28km), known as the gateway of Provence, is set on the banks of the Rhône and surrounded by medieval stone ramparts. Although it is one of Provence’s largest cities, it has a relaxed small town feel and the large student population gives it a lively atmosphere with plenty of bars and restaurants. The four stone arches of the old bridge only span half the river now and Palace des Papes and Les Halles food market are other highlights.

Apt (43km) is one of the region’s oldest town, founded by the Romans in 45BC - its Saturday market is one of the best in Provence and lavender and other essential oils are produced here. It’s also famous for its ceramic ware made from colourful local clays. North of Apt lies Sault (44km), one of the main stops on the “Lavender Tour” where summer blue fields spread around the village as far as the eye can see.

I recently spent a memorable vacation here and can't recommend this simply beautiful and enchanting place highly enough. Margot's warm welcome was fantastic from the moment we arrived, and she ensured that our stay was perfect from start to finish. If you're looking for an unforgettable vacation in idyllic surroundings, look no further than this house.

We loved our stay in this charming house. The sun and the cicadas were just right. The pool and grounds are perfectly maintained. The interior decoration has been tastefully done.

Charming, pleasant house. Well-maintained private pool. Pernes-Les-Fontaines is a pleasant place to discover Provence.
