Château De La Porte is an 18th-century château equipped with 21st-century pleasures. Designed for entertainment as well as relaxation, the château is south facing with large windows giving each room a bright, warm and comfortable feel, overlooking the French gardens and swimming pool area.
Up to 14 adults and 3 children (under 12) can be accommodated here. With 1000m2 of living space with various reception rooms alongside seven attractive bedrooms (and three children's single bedrooms), this magnificent residence has been redecorated and furnished with period flair and taste. Highlights include the Napoleon-style music room, medieval library and dining hall with huge fireplace for winter months. We also love the Louis XVI salon and the bar, not to mention the newly renovated kitchen.
Château De La Porte is surrounded by over seven acres of manicured private gardens with a heated swimming pool, 7-seater Jacuzzi, sauna, magnificent French garden with fountains and marble statues, Japanese garden with pond, a 14th-century moat, kitchen garden, barbecue and outdoor dining in the conservatory. Families will also appreciate the playground with a zipline, tree house, swings and trampoline.
The château has atmospheric lighting both indoor and outdoor with a surround sound system that augments the romantic atmosphere across the ground floor and pool area. Enjoy champagne in the Jacuzzi after dinner or head to the billiard room for a glass of Cognac.
Château De La Porte is set in the heart of a Loire Valley village, making it the perfect base to explore the famous vineyards, grand châteaux and even the beaches of the Atlantic coast. Don’t miss the bustling Tuesday morning market by the gates of the château and there is also a village tennis court that guests can use within walking distance.
Meanwhile, make the most of the château’s bikes as you cycle through local forests, look out for horse-riding opportunities, enjoy a day out in nearby Cholet or venture further afield to the likes of Saumur, Chinon, Angers and Nantes to truly soak up the historic beauty of this captivating region.
In the Maine-et-Loire region of central France, just over an hour from the city of Nantes, Château De La Porte is a great place to experience authentic French living in the heart of a small village. Step out of your private grounds and you will find yourself on the village square, home to a bustling Tuesday morning market.
