About this property

A family of ducks lives on the pond of this villa in Médoc, yet it’s called L’Etang Du Cygne - Swan Lake. Here the beauty of the country life elevates humble things, until they belong in fairy tales. The ivy-covered house has a cottage feeling, with family villa amenities. The living room is all rustic wood beams, stone, and tile - gather round the hearth, or climb up into the cozy loft library.

Outside there’s a romantic stone patio where 6 can dine beneath the leaves. The outdoor kitchen is a gem. There's a wood burning bread oven, a barbecue and a “plancha” flat top grill.

Open a beautiful bottle of wine with dinner - you’ll have plenty, as Médoc is home to 1,500 vineyards. Water lovers can wander down through the gardens to dip toes in the pond, or swim in the villa’s private pool.

The beach at Montalivet (14 km) is a short drive away, or you can venture to Le Verdon (30 km) for high sea fishing and excellent seafood at La Pecherie.

If you’re flying in, the nearest airport is Bordeaux - Merignac (75 km), conveniently located in the famed Bordeaux wine region.

L'Etang du Cygne benefits from a privileged rural location in one of the most well-known regions in Aquitaine. The area is quiet providing guests with a high level of privacy yet being at only 14 km from the beach of Montalivet.

Major tourist destinations such as Bordeaux, Royan and La Rochelle can also be easily reached with a short drive or by ferry.

The villa is surrounded by several villages, with restaurants, shops and local markets. Popular local produce market are held in St. Vivien on Wednesdays, in Montalivet everyday and in Lesparre on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Some recommended restaurants:

- 'La Pecherie' in Le Verdon (for shell fish).
- 'La Table d'Olivier', in  Lesparre. '
- 'La Maison du Duanié', in St. Crystolly.
- 'La Tente Royal', in Soullac - for North African cuisine

For nature and sport lovers, there are plenty of entertaining opportunities, including tennis, golf, horse-back riding and fishing.

There is a public tennis court in Queyrac, but courts can be found in all the little villages around the property. The closest golf courses are located in  Margot (30km), Lacanau (25 km), Le Pian (25 km) and Médoc (30 km).

Watersports and high sea fishing (Le Verdan) are also possible, along with horse riding as there are lots of little riding clubs all around the property.

Beautiful cottage with everything you could possibly hope for. Fabulous pool with cover so still warm to swim in in the evening. Great BBQ and patio area and ample cooking facilities. Owners are nearby and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend this property and location for a relaxing family holiday.

We had a fabulous time at this beautiful villa for a week over the summer holidays. We found the price to be reasonable and the accommodation to be well equipped. The villa is situated on an expanse of land which allowed us to feel relaxed away from our busy lives. We made full use of the outdoor dining area and BBQ and relaxed by the pool on the various poolside furniture available. We had a great time in the pool, which was regularly maintained by the owners. The owners were incredibly hospitable and tended to our needs without being intrusive. The beach and towns are only a short drive away and all amenities are available there, If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful retreat in beautiful surroundings, then I would highly recommend this villa.

A lovely old house in a very peaceful location with an excellent pool. There is easy access to nearby beaches, markets and local vineyards. The house was extremely well equipped, with everything you could possibly need and more. The very helpful owners live just next door. Any negatives? Only one really, which was the Bordeaux airport low cost airline 'Billi' terminal which was a nightmare. Long queues to get through immigration control when we arrived, and then absolute bedlam when we left with over two hours queuing for everything, never once sitting down - in the company of a thousand other people in an unairconditioned building. If we returned to this area for a holiday, we would never, ever travel this way again Our daughter who flew with FlyBe, not Ryanair or Easyjet - had a trouble free journey both ways, using the main Bordeaux airport terminal.
