About this property

With vast countryside views from its private grounds, this lovingly restored Dordogne farmhouse offers an authentic slice of rural French life wrapped in comfort and calm. Here, time slows. The garden stretches out with a promise of restful mornings and sunny afternoons, while the pretty dining terrace awaits long, lingering meals under open skies.

Inside, the house feels warm and familiar, with thoughtful touches that reflect its transformation into a true family home. Original beams line the spacious living room where a Smart TV and high-speed Wi-Fi connect you to the present without ever disturbing the sense of retreat. The kitchen and dining space, fully equipped for every occasion, spills into both front and rear gardens, making meals a relaxed, indoor-outdoor affair. With four welcoming bedrooms, including an en suite double bedroom on the first-floor, there is ample space for families and friends to gather and unwind.

Outside, the heated swimming pool offers the perfect antidote to a warm afternoon. Make the most of the large lawns, enjoy table tennis in the old barn or settle in with a glass of Bergerac wine as dusk falls.

Leyssartarde enjoys a wonderfully central location for exploring the Dordogne’s rich tapestry of culture, cuisine, and countryside. Just a 15-minute drive from Lalinde, a pretty riverside village with all daily essentials, and within easy reach of both Bergerac, Trémolat and Limeuil, this charming holiday abode is ideally placed for boat trips, canoeing, farmers’ markets and vineyard visits. The medieval streets of Sarlat-la-Canéda, the prehistoric wonders of Les Eyzies and the artistic marvels of Lascaux are all close enough for day-long adventures.

Whether you’re planning riverside picnics, heritage explorations or simply long, laughter-filled evenings with loved ones, Leyssartarde offers the kind of stay that lingers long after your return.

This charming detached holiday home enjoys extensive views from its beautiful grounds set in open countryside, located in the Dordogne region of southwestern France, just 23km north-east of Bergerac. This is the perfect base for exploring the area's cultural treasures whilst also slowing down and admiring the beauty of the region.

Just a short drive away lies Lalinde, a bastide town on the banks of the Dordogne River, where market days bring colour and bustle to its quiet streets. The village is also home to a bakery, restaurants and supermarket. Continue west to Bergerac, famed for its half-timbered houses, Cyrano de Bergerac legacy, and the vineyards that produce some of the region’s finest wines. Stroll the old town, sip a glass at a local terrace, or enjoy a boat ride on a traditional gabarre.

In the other direction, Limeuil and Trémolat await with breathtaking views and leisurely charm. Limeuil, perched at the confluence of the Dordogne and Vézère rivers, is classified as a ‘Plus Beaux Villages de France’, perfect for meandering walks and panoramic photo stops. Trémolat offers gourmet delights and tranquil river bends – there are some spectacular walks near here.

Further along the Vézère valley, Les Eyzies reveals its prehistoric secrets, home to world-renowned cave art and the National Museum of Prehistory, whilst the famous Lascaux IV Centre International de l'Art Pariétal is around an hour by car.

South of the Dordogne, the medieval village of Issigeac will enchant with its Sunday market and crooked, cobbled lanes. And no visit to the Dordogne would be complete without exploring Sarlat-la-Canéda, a preserved jewel of medieval architecture. By day, wander through Renaissance courtyards; by night, the honey-hued buildings glow under golden lamplight. Sarlat-la-Canéda’s Saturday morning market is a highlight of the week with its truffles, foie gras and mushrooms (depending on the season).

From this charming abode, you are perfectly placed to embrace the full beauty of the Dordogne: canoe down shimmering rivers, feast on truffles and duck confit, sip Monbazillac in sun-drenched vineyards and uncover the living history etched into every stone.
