About this property

Maison Calme is a house full of tradition and charm with an amazing location just a ten minutes walk from the delightful village of Limeuil, where the Vézère meets the Dordogne. With a pretty swimming pool and lovely patio gardens, this is a wonderful place to relax yet be within easy reach of some of the region’s most enchanting villages and towns.

Drive up a cypress-lined driveway to the pretty French country house with its private grounds. It’s a homely place with everything you need; a spacious sitting room with an open fire-place, a formal dining room and a pretty kitchen where keen chefs can cook up feasts with ingredients from local markets. You can sit and have your morning coffee in the lovely summer room or under the shade of the beautiful trees on the patio. Upstairs the four simple bedrooms are traditional and sweet with a mixture of contemporary and antique furnishings. Outside the swimming pool is a relaxing place to cool down or rest in the sun.

If you peep through the trees you can see the nearby village and where the rivers meet. In delightful Limeuil, you’ll find a couple of lovely restaurants, an organic grocery store and a nice bar. This is where the Vézère meets the Dordogne and you can paddle by the river beach or enjoy some fine views from Parc Limeuil after wandering through the pretty village. The historic town of Le Bugue (7km), with its charming shops and bustling market on a Tuesday is also not to be missed.

Other magical trips out should include sampling the delicious black truffle in the city of Périgueux, heading east to the exquisite town of Sarlat or simply exploring some of France’s Plus Beaux Villages along the Dordogne such as La Roque Gageac, Beynac and Castelnaud-la-Chapelle. Not forgetting the beautiful city of Bergerac with its unmissable Maisons de Vins.

This traditional French house is in such a lovely location; it really is the perfect place to relax in your private grounds yet be within walking distance to one of Dordogne’s loveliest villages.

The Dordogne is known as the valley of 1000 chateaux with endless pretty medieval villages, fine wines, truffles, local markets and spectacular valleys and rivers. Both the Vézère and the Dordogne rivers offer great kayaking, canoeing and unparalleled views of the countryside.
