About this property

Built in 1900, Les Petit Bois is a large chateau located in western Burgundy, offering a truly peaceful and tranquil getaway. Accommodating up to 15 guests across the main chateau and its wing, it is perfect for families or for a group of friends with wonderful living space, a well-equipped kitchen and seven individual and comfortable bedrooms. The home manages to flawlessly combine traditional features with sophisticated style and modern interiors giving it a charming and homely touch.

Step outside to the sight of an inviting pool surrounded by a wonderful terrace with the scent of roses as you wander down the path. What better way to wake up than to have a walk around the mesmerizing woody grounds followed by a lovely breakfast next to the pool right before taking a dip to cool off.

The glorious gardens are impeccably suited for families with kids allowing them to run around, play hide and seek or a game of ping-pong. On rainy afternoons the billiard table will keep older kids amused or kick back with a DVD in the comfy living area.

Located in a small picturesque village with a 5-star rated French restaurant, it perfectly combines privacy with its proximity to various small enjoyable towns and their attractions. It is a short drive away from Chateau de Guedelon, a newly built castle utilizing techniques and materials from the Middle Ages; and Chateau de Saint-Fargeau, famous for its unique design and occasional re-enactments.

Burgundy is very well-known for its breathtaking vineyards, picturesque views and its wine so a tasting experience in Sancerre or Chablis should be on your to-do list.

The area is also great for children as it has a nearby tree-top activity centre for older kids plus a farm and wildlife park within a short drive. Furthermore, there is a wide range of leisure activities within walking distance of the chateau including tennis courts and a mini-golf course as well as hiking and cycling opportunities from the village. Canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding and fishing are available within half an hour by car, making it a sports enthusiast’s paradise.

This charming and eclectic home offers something for everyone making it a memorable holiday for guests of all ages.

The magnificent home chateau is in a small rural, wooded village in the Burgundy area where you can find some small shops, a beautiful church and a highly rated French restaurant. The chateau is also very close to the border of Cher, Nievre and Loiret department which each count with picturesque towns packed with history. The Loire and Yonne rivers are only a short drive away offering truly scenic views.

For a wider range of restaurants, the town of Toucy (10km) is a 10-minute drive, here you will find the typical town facilities and a brilliant market on a Saturday morning, voted the most picturesque in Burguny. The Tourist Train is a good way to explore the panoramic countryside whilst La Pyramide du Loup, just north of Toucy, is a museum worth a visit as both adults and kids will enjoy this equally.

It’s a 15-minute drive from Chateau de Guédelon (16km), a newly built castle using the techniques and materials which were utilised in the Middle Ages to recreate a 13th century castle; and Chateau de Saint-Fargeau (10km), which was originally built in the 10th century, popular for its unique design.

Auxerre (35km), a protected historic town in France right on the river, is a good place to go on a day trip and explore its beauties such as its magnificent cathedral and coffee shops or simply walk through the medieval streets and appreciate the ancient houses and 15th Century clock tower. Other towns which are worth a visit are Gien (50km) and Briare (38km), both very quaint market towns. Briare, on the Loire River, also crosses with Canal de Briare making it ideal for boat trips and riverside strolls.

A day trip to Joan of Arc’s house in Orléans (120km) is idyllic for any history lovers out there as is a trip to the wonderful Vézelay (68km), on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela with its 12th century Basilica and beautifully preserved streets full of colourful flowers in the summer months.
