About this property

Rustic and remote, with a huge amount of outdoor space to enjoy, Villa Bozica lies around 15km from Vrgorac, a medieval town in the south-eastern slopes of Mount Biokovo. Ideal for a smaller group seeking plenty of peace and privacy, this villa offers you a magnificent outdoor pool, large terraces and well-kept gardens.

The villa is easy to reach by car, being around 10km from the Ravca highway. You can travel here from Split Airport, which is around 100km away. In addition to the opportunity to explore the mountainous surroundings, it offers easy access to the coast, and destinations such as Tučepi, Igrane and Drašnice.

A covered dining area and barbecue make a fine place to entertain friends, with plenty of covered parking available at Villa Bozica. Sun loungers line up beside the pool, so you can lie back and enjoy the reliably sunny weather with a glass of wine.

Inside, you have a spacious kitchen with a vintage look, where you will find a large fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave and many other appliances. A wood-burning stove warms the living area when needed, where rugged stone walls add to a Mediterranean ambience.

Villa Bozica is equipped with air-conditioning, TV and Wi-Fi, and offers three bedrooms. There are two doubles and a room with bunk beds, suitable for children. The bedrooms share two bathrooms, one with a shower and one with a bath tub.

The small town of Vrgorac provides you with amenities including a supermarket and the recommended restaurant, Pilac. From Vrgorac, it’s around 35 minutes’ drive to the more developed tourist destination of Gradac, at the southern end of the Makarska Riviera. Here you have beautiful beaches, kayaking tours and waterfront cafés waiting for you, and it serves as a fine introduction to this impressive stretch of Croatian coast.

Around 30 minutes’ drive from the coast, Vrgorac is a small town in the mountains, and its location makes it something of a hidden gem. It may not be a major metropolis, but it does have a few significant claims to fame: Tin Ujević, considered Croatia’s greatest 20th-century poet was born in Vrgorac, and filmmaker and mountaineer, Stipe Božić, also hails from the town. He is famed for having climbed Mount Everest – twice!

The town is surrounded by seven forts and is now known for its vineyards where high-quality wines are produced, and its cultivation of the famous Vrgorac strawberries which are considered the best in the Dalmatian region. Be sure to try both while you’re in town.

Vrgorac has a few places to eat, including several pretty pavement cafés and restaurants, and amenities including grocery stores, banks, pharmacy and a casino. It’s a pleasant place to wander around, with the mountain backdrop always a pleasing sight.

You can drive from Vrgorac to the coastal resort of Gradac in around 40 minutes. This popular destination forms the southern tip of the extensive Makarska Riviera and, as such, offers the most stunning views of the Adriatic and golden beaches. Many attractive eateries are lined up at the water’s edge – no matter what the food is like, you will still be guaranteed an unforgettable experience.

Vrograc is located close to the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, around 10 minutes’ drive away, so it’s possible to pop across to see the beautiful Kravica Waterfall, for example – the stunning scenery is well worth the 35-minute drive. Not much further in the opposite direction, the wonderful resort of Makarska should also be on your list. It’s the place to be for stylish living and Croatian culture, and you really won’t want to miss it.
