With two living rooms, kitchens and dining areas and endless terraces and seating areas, Villa Slana is a large and unique villa just a ten-minute drive away from the beautiful beaches of Labin.

Refurbished as recently as 2018, this magnificent mansion in the Istrian countryside leaves absolutely nothing out! The villa is an impressive feat of architecture, standing tall among the fields and undulating terrain of the southern coastline. The interiors demonstrate painstaking and beautiful attention to detail, with two entirely different and equally glorious living and dining areas.

With a fabulous marble archway dividing the first living and dining rooms, marble flooring and a beautiful array of modern and more traditional décor, you will feel the picture of elegance as you dine below the ornate chandelier in the 1920’s style rooms.

Along the corridor is an utterly modern, chic room with a large L-shaped sofa in front of the glass coffee table and SAT TV. The main kitchen and living area has direct access to the vast garden and enjoys a lovely large fireplace.

The bedrooms feature a similar blend of traditional and more modern styles, with some featuring majestic bed frames and sets of furniture which match some of that throughout the house, and others much more understated, with elegant, minimalist furnishing and simple colour palettes of predominantly white.

There are two single rooms and three doubles. Altogether there are four bathrooms, three with showers and one with a whirlpool bath-tub where you can soak aching muscles, relax and unwind in peace.

In the sublime grounds, you will find entertainment for all ages. There are mini football goals, a table football set, a basketball hoop and badminton net for encouraging little healthy competition, and two swings for the youngest. There’s a huge private pool, surrounded by sun loungers, where you can spend many an hour of relaxation and fun.

By the pool you will find a very nearby pool house, with a kitchen, barbeque and bathroom, saving you the journey inside and out of the Istrian sun! A delightful water fountain adds to the glamour, with a vibrant play of light among the water droplets. Among the many terraces and lawns, you will find endless options for relaxing, be it with a morning coffee, a glass of the local wine or perhaps even a cocktail!

You’re just ten minutes from the beach and fifteen minutes away from Učka Nature Park, a sprawling protected area with hiking routes leading to canyons, waterfalls and historic sites, so you’ll find unspoilt nature a stone’s throw away.

In fact, one-third of the Istrian territory is forested, and the rest is carpeted with vineyards, olive trees, pastures and orchards, with ancient walled cities perched atop hills in the mountainous landscape, so you need merely stroll out your front door to find the richness of Istria.

Villa Slana is perfectly positioned to enjoy a quaint rural setting and the beach only a stone’s throw away! Just five minutes away is Labin, once the most extensive mining centre of Croatia and now an art haven filled with galleries!

The town overlooks the bay of Rabač, an Istrian paradise with a pebble beach and crystal-clear waters, and the perfect place to try a little snorkelling, swimming and diving!

A charming heart-shaped peninsula in the north-west of Croatia, Istria is warm, welcoming and perfectly-sized – you can drive the length in around an hour, putting everything within easy reach!

From breath-taking scenery, rich history and a world-famous culinary scene – you will find it all in Istria! As a former part of the Venetian Republic, this region has seen many rulers from the Romans, Byzantines and Austro-Hungarians to the Italians and Yugoslavians. Now, a myriad of enchanting towns and villages, rich in history and culture, are nestled among the undulating countryside.

Active holiday-makers will be delighted with the offerings: from windsurfing in Medulin to scuba diving in the Brijuni National park and rock climbing, hang-gliding and walking in Buzet along the 15km ‘seven waterfalls’ walk, Istria has it all.

Both along the dramatic coastal paths and in the mountains inland, you will find an abundance of natural paths for cycling (including the scenic Parenzana route over an old railway line from Viznada to the Slovenian border) and rugged off-road hiking trails. Pick up a trail-map from any of the Tourist Offices, for loads of well-marked routes around the coast and in the Cape Kamenjak.

Much like its neighbouring Italy, Istria is a gastronome’s paradise, home to world-class cuisine and endless rows of vineyards. Be sure to try the local wines, which are often sweet and fruity, using a wide variety of grapes including white Malvasia, red Terrano and Moscato.

Istria is especially famous for its truffles, which you will find served with any dish and sauce! Truffle flavoured olive oil is a typical product of the region, and indeed, you will hardly see a village which does not have its own Olive oil ‘supermarket’!

Both Rijeka and Pula have international airports within a short drive of the villa, while Pula is the central hub for those getting ferries, although there is a daily ferry between Poreč and Venice.
