About this property

Perched peacefully above a private piece of the Adriatic Sea directly accessible from the house, Villa Koru is a three-bedroom retreat welcoming up to six guests to the island of Korčula. This idyllic retreat exudes a perfect blend of modern luxury and traditional charm, promising an unforgettable escape.

Upon entering the villa, guests are greeted by the airy and inviting living room with plush furnishings and abundant natural light streaming through large floor-to-ceiling windows. The spacious area seamlessly connects to the dining space, adorned with a rustic wooden table where you can savour delicious meals prepared in the fully equipped kitchen. With its range of state-of-the-art appliances and ample counter space, the kitchen is a haven for culinary enthusiasts, whether you’re tossing together a Mediterranean salad or preparing a holiday feast for family and friends.

Ascending the stairs reveals three elegantly appointed bedrooms, each boasting a king-sized bed, ensuite with a walk-in shower, and private furnished balcony with breathtaking views over the Adriatic.

Of course, the magic happens in the outdoor areas when it comes to a stunning seafront spot like Villa Koru. The villa’s outdoor spaces unfold toward the sea, beginning with a sun-drenched terrace and shaded alfresco dining space and then to the sparkling swimming pool surrounded by sun-loungers. Bordered by greenery and fragrant Mediterranean flora, the outdoor space invites you to bask in the warm Croatian sun or unwind in the shaded lounge areas with a refreshing drink in hand.

Or better yet, take the villa’s private stairs to the sea and dive into the replenishing turquoise blue waters whose colour washes over Villa Koru daily. The villa transforms into a magical haven in the evenings, with the sunset casting a golden glow across the landscape. Dine al fresco under the stars on the terrace, enjoying the culinary delights crafted in the villa’s outdoor kitchen and grill area, creating memories to be cherished.

Villa Koru is more than just accommodation, it’s an immersive experience, a journey into the heart of Croatian hospitality, promising tranquillity and serenity for your holiday escape.

Located in a serene village on the island of Korčula (also known as the Emerald Isle), Villa Koru and its guests benefit from the comparative lack of tourists compared to places like Hvar. This gives the island its laid-back attitude but doesn’t mean there isn’t a wealth of things to see, do, and consume.

Korčula Old Town (38-minute drive) is sometimes called “Little Dubrovnik” thanks to its likeness granted by medieval city walls, picturesque Venetian-style buildings with red rooftops, and the fact that the town is built on a small peninsula jutting out into the Peljesac channel. This is a historic town, and even provides a rival claim to Venice as the birthplace of Marco Polo (in a house on Ulica Depolo Street).

Be sure to check out St. Mark’s Cathedral, a stunning Gothic church built on the highest point in town. Finish the day at Mariola Wine Bar, a laid-back joint right on the sea where you can watch the world float by over a refreshing glass of local wine and tasty bruschetta. Or, if you’re feeling fancy, treat yourself to a cocktail at Massimo, a bar on top of a 15th-century tower perched precipitously on the sea’s edge. You’ll have to climb a ladder onto a roof, and your drinks will arrive via a pulley system, but it’s pretty fun.

Foodies should also visit the nearby town of Zrnovo. This town originated Makaruni, a traditional homemade pasta from the island. Often served with beef, it can also be found with prawns or simple tomato sauce. Of course, Makaruni can be found at restaurants all over the island, so keep your eyes peeled.

Closer to the villa on the western edge of the island is Vela Luka (18-minute drive). The town is where the Split ferry arrives and has many natural and cultural attractions. Indeed, the Vela Luka Cultural Centre boasts two Henry Moore sculptures. And make sure to check out Vela Spila, a stunning cave hidden among olive groves with a gaping limestone cavity and two large holes in its ceiling that produce vivid plays of light.
