Perched high on a cliffside along the breathtaking Dalmatian coastline, Villa Friesian is an opulent 8-bedroom villa accommodating up to 28 guests in the epitome of comfort, privacy, and Adriatic allure.  

Upon entering this spacious retreat, guests are greeted by a spacious, interconnected living and dining room made luminous by floor-to-ceiling windows where natural light floods in from panoramic sea views. Made comfortable by plush sofas, armchairs, a roaring fireplace and a designated workstation, this relaxed zone is ideal for decompressing or chatting over a morning coffee.

The adjacent dining space features a long wooden dining table (seating 12) and leads to the fully equipped kitchen. Culinary enthusiasts will revel in the kitchen's range of modern appliances and ample counter space, where anything from tossing together a Mediterranean Salad to preparing a holiday feast for family and friends feels like a breeze. The two full-size wine fridges certainly make things easier!

However, Villa Friesian's eight suites set throughout the upper floors really set the place apart. Four bedrooms boast king-sized beds, seating areas with convertible sofa beds (capable of sleeping two), AC, big balconies with personal jacuzzies and sea views, and ensuite bathrooms with soaking tubs and walk-in showers. Two further rooms also feature king-size beds and convertible sofa beds, AC, balconies, and ensuite bathrooms with tub and walk-in shower. The final two rooms boast two single beds each, AC, balconies, and ensuite bathrooms with tubs and walk-in showers.

The carefully curated décor of each suite, inspired by the coastal surroundings, creates an inviting atmosphere, inviting you to unwind and recharge. Besides the bedrooms, the upper floor also boasts a fully fitted-out gym space, including multiple treadmills, rowing machines, and free weights, all within the panorama of stunning sea views.  

Returning to the ground floor, Villa Friesian boasts two sumptuous hybrid indoor-outdoor settings. The first is a spacious spa and sauna that looks out onto the terrace and swimming pool. With an extravagant plunge pool and commodious seating, these features provide the utmost luxury. The other is a beautiful al fresco dining space and summer kitchen housed in a glass cabana on the terrace.

Speaking of the terrace, guests will find the remarkable infinity pool stretching out over the house's precipice like a long, azure finger. Surrounded by sun loungers and parasols, the pool is the central focus of the house and points out to the magnificent Adriatic Sea.

Set in the quaint seaside village of Mimice, where beaches of fine white sand make for perfect family bathing spots, guests of Villa Friesian can enjoy the serenity of small-town life without lacking in local amenities and attractions. The village of Mimice itself boasts a supermarket, cafes, restaurants, and various breathtaking coves.

The local area also boasts a great range of scenic hiking trails, including paths that pass through outdoor art and sculpture parks that look out across to the island of Brac.

Split (45-minute drive) is the largest city in Dalmatia, a transport hub for surrounding islands and a unique jewel on the Adriatic coast. The city’s unesco-listed palace, once belonging to Roman emperor Diocletian, dates back more than 1,700 years and is a must-see. Wander the palace’s marble walkways or have an expert guide regale you with the palace’s endless delights, from the Temple of Jupiter to the Palace cellars – all stunningly preserved from antiquity. For a great view of the city and its surrounds, climb the bell tower of the Cathedral of Saint Dominus in the heart of the palace – once the mausoleum for the emperor himself.

If Diocletian’s Palace whets your historical whistle, the nearby Fortress of Klis and Salona Ruins are well worth a visit. The city of Trogir – or “museum town” as many know it – is famous for its historical monuments and cathedrals. The Split waterfront, known as the “Riva”, is a spectacular promenade for tourists and locals alike. Take a seat, sip coffee or wine, and partake in what the locals call “fjaka” – the art of doing nothing.

Baska Voda (15-minute drive) has plenty of beaches on offer. The Malacological Museum in Baska Voda is a great little option for a touch of subaqueous education between dips in the sea itself. The museum houses an impressive collection of shells from the Adriatic as well as other parts of the world. In Baska Voda, there are also ample opportunities for water sports, including paddle boarding, snorkelling, and scuba diving.
