The village offers a variety of independent shops, galleries, and eateries, including the famous gingerbread shop. You’re free to enjoy the scenic walks around Grasmere Lake and Rydal Water, explore the Wordsworth Daffodil Garden, or embark on a ramble from your doorstep, such as the trails up to Silver How and Loughrigg or over to Elterwater. A short drive to Ambleside provides additional shopping, dining, and pub options. Extend your adventures by visiting Lake Windermere, 12 miles south, where you can take a cruise on England’s largest lake, walk, cycle, or try various water sports. The charming market town of Keswick is 12 miles north.
