Guests say

Banneth is a well-loved cottage in Cornwall, praised for its cleanliness, homely touches, and beautiful garden. Its location is ideal for exploring local attractions, and the property is equipped with a range of amenities. While some guests experienced issues with parking and maintenance, the overall sentiment is positive, with many looking forward to returning.

Most guests found Banneth to be clean and well-presented, with only a few instances of oversight such as dog hairs and missed rubbish. The positive remarks on cleanliness far outweigh the negatives.

The location is frequently highlighted as excellent, with easy access to local sites and a quiet environment, despite some concerns about road proximity which were mitigated by double glazing.

Guests generally found the property comfortable, with a homely feel and well-furnished rooms. However, there were comments about uncomfortable dining chairs and a mattress, suggesting room for improvement.

The property is appreciated for its inventory and homely touches, but several guests reported issues with appliances and a lack of clear instructions, indicating a need for better maintenance and clearer guidance.

While guests appreciated the homely touches and items available for use, there were no specific mentions of gifts, and therefore it is not possible to score this category.

About this property

A grand family home built in the traditional style located in a peaceful spot in the small hamlet of Garras, close to pretty river creeks, sandy beaches and rocky coves. Garras is a small hamlet just 5 miles from Helford village and close to other key villages such as Coverack, St. Keverne, Gunwalloe and The Lizard. This charming property makes a superb holiday base for exploring all the magnificent secrets of the rivers and coastline of the area. Banneth offers classic accommodation with two double rooms and two single rooms all of which have very pretty outlooks onto the gardens around the house where children can play safely.

The living room has an open fire and the dining room a traditional wood burner, perfect for snuggling up when taking an out of season break. With a picturesque and secluded garden the atmosphere is enchanting, and the accommodation is beautifully presented to make any family feel immediately relaxed. Banneth is within walking distance of Mawgan and the local village shop for all essentials, as well as The Ship Inn for great food and real ale. There is also the Cornwall Crafts Association at Trelowarren with a variety of events and exhibitions. Local beaches include the sandy Church Cove at Gunwalloe next to the Mullion Golf Course, National Trust's Kynance Cove, Kennack sands and Coverack, all of which are very popular beaches and coves with some spectacular cliff walks and views.

The Helford River attracts fascinating wildlife, and at Gweek The National Seal Sanctuary is a must for children and adults alike!

Helford is a picturesque village on the south side of the Helford River. Helford is very popular with its thatched cottages, excellent village stores and especially The Shipwrights Arms, right on the edge of the creek with its waterside terrace. Just a short walk away is Frenchman’s Creek, immortalised by Daphne du Maurier. The Helford River Sailing Club is very popular and a regatta is held every August. In the summer a passenger ferry runs to Helford passage, the home of the Ferryboat Inn, and nearby to the gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan. The wildlife on the Helford River is diverse and a birdwatcher’s paradise.

Heating worked very well, wifi ok too. Parking a bit awkward but we managed ok. Couldn't get normal tv channels on the living room tv, but that seemed to be an aerial problem that hopefully is easily sorted. The Smart services (Netflix, Iplayer, etc) were all working so no big deal.

No contact details were online - in the contact us section it says 'tel -' and then its blank. Other than that we were happy.

There was no link to the people running the house and no one could tell me about what was in the house ie bath mat, hairdryer, shower gel. There was a tiny travel hair dryer which was not ideal. There was no available feedback from previous guests. The washing machine door was broken and a maintenance man came quickly but the machine was then unworkable and I was offered no compensation nor apology. We liked the property itself and furniture and we are a very positive lovely family, so we made the most of our stay and keeping everything in good order.
