About this property

Ty Chandos is a charming end-terrace coastal cottage, situated on a gentle hill, just a stone’s throw from the centre of the picturesque Welsh seaside village of Borth-y-Gest. Built in the 1800s and believed to originally have been the home of a sail maker, this delightful property is perfect for couples or a family looking for a seaside holiday to remember. Full of character and surprisingly spacious, this welcoming cottage retains some lovely original features, including exposed beams, wooden floorboards and a sash window, as well as being decorated in pastel colours reflecting its coastal location. Inside you will find a cosy sitting room with a dining area and a warming log-effect electric fire, making it the perfect place to enjoy a meal with loved ones after a day beside the sea. There is also a modern and well-equipped kitchen, ideal for preparing a picnic, leading to a courtyard to the side of the property, where you can sit and enjoy a morning cup of coffee. Upstairs there is a modern shower room and two individually-styled and comfortably-furnished bedrooms, one double and one twin, with the double boasting patio doors opening out onto a decked balcony and terraced garden, the ideal spot for taking in the sea air with a good book and great scenery. With excellent walking and cycling opportunities from the door, those who love the outdoors will be spoilt for choice when holidaying here. For more leisurely pursuits, Borth-y-Gest retains much of its Victorian charm, with rows of technicolour houses dotted along the horseshoe-shaped promenade. All you need to do is stroll down the hill and you’ll reach the sheltered sandy bay, a perfect place for a spot of sunbathing as the children paddle and make sandcastles. Birdwatchers have the choice of not one but two superb nature reserves, Parc y Borth, where woodpeckers and tawny owls can be found, and Pen y Banc, with secluded sandy coves and wading birds aplenty. With all that the Snowdonia National Park has to offer just a short drive away, including a whole host of ancient castles, sandy beaches and rocky coves, there’s something for everyone to see and do from this lovely coastal cottage. Board the Ffestiniog Steam Railway at Porthmadog, less than two miles away, and marvel at the mountainous scenery whilst you immerse yourself in the timeless romance of steam travel. The beautiful Italianate village and gardens of Portmeirion are also well worth a visit, not to mention the majestic Mount Snowdon, less than an hour down the road. With all this and more to see and do, this wonderful coastal cottage will provide you with an ideal base for a memorable holiday at any time of the year.

Borth-y-Gest, nestled by the water close to the Llyn Peninsula, is a quaint seaside village with tearoom and restaurant. The are many walks on offer from the village, and the Snowdonia National Park is just a short drive away. Visit Porthmadog, Anglesey, Black Rock Sands and Portmeirion
