About this property

Situated in the heart of the friendly and welcoming village of Portknockie is this detached stone-built fisherman's cottage offering smart and extremely comfortable accommodation. With lots of space spread out over two floors, SLATER'S is a traditional Grade C listed property in the conservation part of Portknockie. For many years a general hardware store owned by the Slater family, this is an ideal venue for a large family or group of friends who want to explore the fabulous North East coastline of Scotland. At ground floor level there is the sumptuous master bedroom with en-suite facilities and also a cosy stacker bedroom that can double up as a snug, with a PlayStation 3 and games to keep the children (and adults) very happy indeed. The sitting/dining room has a welcoming woodburning stove to ensure cosy nights in and relaxed meals around the dining table. The contemporary kitchen has a breakfast area and every appliance necessary to allow for the easy preparation of great meals. An external door from the kitchen gives access to the private patio at the rear of the cottage, a great place for quiet morning coffee or a pre-dinner glass of wine. The upper floor has a bright, fresh shower room and also a double and twin bedroom both benefiting from large bay windows providing pretty views across the rooftops to the sea, or to watch the sun setting over the Caithness Hills. Being centrally situated there is easy access to the local shops, pub, hotel, chip shop and the lovely harbour, with its outdoor swimming pool for children to enjoy during the summer months. This part of Scotland has many pretty villages dotted along the rugged coastline. The Moray Firth is famous for its jumping dolphins and they can be seen from land or by taking one of the many boat trips out onto the open sea. Walkers and wildlife spotters will be in paradise; there’s so much to see and experience in this delightful corner of Scotland. This wonderful cottage will ensure a fabulous holiday for all! EPC Rating: Band E

Portknockie is a popular coastal village in a cliff-top position, overlooking a natural harbour on the Moray Firth Coast. You can explore the craggy cliff-tops, beaches and secret coves or look out for the dolphins, seals and sea birds that live in the Moray Firth. The town of Cullen is nearby and is renowned for its Cullen Skink (smoked haddock and potato soup) or you may wish to enjoy a round of golf.

In a great location, close to places to eat and drink without having to drive after a day exploring Moray and Aberdeenshire. Comfortable beds, like lying on a cloud. Grandson had a great time with the toys supplied in cottage. Will definitely return.

Very well equipped and a lovely welcome basket on arrival. Quiet street within walking distance of local shop, pub, chip shop (excellent fish supper) and Chinese. Nice walks to harbour and neighbouring towns/villages. Would stay again.

Accurately described house. Lovely welcome pack - much appreciated. Would have liked to be able to open downstairs bedroom windows - may have just been stuck, but didn't want to use too much force!
