This delightful cottage was originally the grain store for this working livestock and arable farm, but has now been lovingly transformed into a cosy rural retreat, nestled on the edge of the village of Askham. This lovely ground floor apartment has underfloor heating throughout, making it warm and cosy no matter what time of year you visit. The open plan living area has every comfort on hand with a kitchen, dining area and a sitting area, from which you can enjoy a timeless view of the orchard. The Granary is surrounded by pleasant country lanes, perfect for a relaxing walk or bike ride in these beautiful surroundings.
The village inn serves locally produced food and real ales, which is just the ticket for ending a perfect day. This fantastic apartment is perfectly placed for exploring every taste from countryside to city. Historic Lincoln offers a vibrant and contemporary day out with plenty of things to keep everyone busy. There is plenty of history on offer with its medieval cathedral and a copy of the Magna Carta housed at the castle. Why not walk the castle walls and take in the views across the city? The National Nature Reserve of Sherwood Forest is a short drive away and was once part of a royal hunting forest.
The area now covers 450 acres with plenty of walking and cycling routes, and includes some ancient trees, some of which are over 500 years old. The Granary offers a perfect retreat for that special break, whatever time of year.
Askham is a small rural Nottinghamshire village just off the A57 and close to the A1. The village has a pub. Sherwood Forest is just 11 miles away, with the Robin Hood visitors centre providing wonderful woodland walks including to the renowned Major Oak tree, with picnic areas also available. The National Trust's Clumber Park has 3,800 acres of spectacular scenery where you can walk or cycle, gardens, and a lake with 200 species of birds. The Wetlands Waterfowl Reserve is seven miles away with 32 acres of fishing lakes and woodland, along with an exotic birds sanctuary and animals. The area offers galleries and museums, while the Roman city of Lincoln, 17 miles away, has a cathedral and castle, and historic Newark, 15 miles away, has two castles, frequent antiques fairs, a fine Georgian market square and a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants.
