Staying on the Lancashire side, visit the imposing Gawthorpe Hall (16 miles), a grand Elizabethan manor with sweeping grounds and landscaped gardens. Head into Yorkshire and begin your exploration in Skipton (11 miles), the well-known ‘Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales’.
