About this property

Dating from 1390, Bull Cottage is one of the oldest cottages in Burford. This charming and unique Grade II* listed property is a local icon featuring in the Pevsner Architectural Guide for historical buildings in England. A fine example of the era, it retains many of the original features still to this day. Medieval arches, aged timber beams and flagstone floors are all over 600 years old, quite outstanding. The kitchen is fully equipped for a foodie's delight, while the two large reception/ Living Rooms are very much the heart of the house. With Burford's shops and cafe's no more than 25 yards away, you couldn't be better situated for a truly Cotswolds' experience. This is another exceptional cottage in the heart of Burford, ideal for families or couples who love the Cotswolds.

With little changing over the centuries, Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and teashops. It is an ideal base for visiting The Cotswolds area as it is within easy driving distance of popular attractions such as Blenheim Palace, Sudley Castle, Warwick Castle and several National Trust Houses and Gardens. Bourton on the Water, Bibury, Cirencester and Stow on the Wold are all with 25 minutes from the property.

I understand it is an old door but at times it was difficult to open. Also in relation to having to put bed clothing in linen bags we could not find any on site maybe this could be clearer. Otherwise this was one of the best properties we have stayed in the Cotswolds and we have been coming to this area for many years.

All the amenities you want with extremely comfortable beds and bathrooms. The selection of channels on the TV was a lovely surprise with a full sports and film package but we thought if you were going to provide that then the TV itself needs to be upgraded for the full affect. We realised on the first night that the clock on the heating system was not at the right time so had to reset it in the middle of the night, not sure what had happened there. All small things that didn’t detract from a great weekend and surely the shortest walk to the pub we’ve ever had!

We brought some American friends with us to show them the Cotswolds. They were in awe of Bull Cottage, Burford and the Cotswolds. Love it. Great location, great historic house and easy to stay in. Thank you again.
