About this property

Situated in the foothills of the Sierras de Tejada, Almijara and Alhama Natural Park, this charming villa enjoys a privileged position, with spectacular views across the valley and down to the nearby coast. Exclusive to Oliver's Travels, Casa Feliz has been beautifully finished both inside and out, offering the perfect place to enjoy sunny days with family and friends.

Surrounded by vibrant planting and swaying trees, Casa Feliz is completely secluded, with a delightful garden and multiple terraces where guests can relax undisturbed. Offering a traditional sense of grandeur, the villa is typically built in the Mediterranean style with terracotta tiled roofs and charming timber framed windows, whilst leafy vines climb up the warm stucco walls.

Bright and spacious, the interior has a feeling of elegance, with high ceilings and lovely timber floors running throughout. A large living room featuring a fireplace is decorated with classical furnishings, and two comfortable sofas invite you to sit and relax with a book. At one end of the room, tall windows bring in plenty of natural light and can be left open to enjoy a gentle breeze, whilst a central double doorway leads out to the garden beyond. To the side of the house, the modern kitchen is fitted with quality appliances, and a further set of doors gives access to a delightful side terrace where you can find a large outdoor dining table, perfect for sharing meals in the fresh air.

Set over one level, the main villa contains four comfortable bedrooms, each carefully furnished with its own style and character. A large suite features a four-poster bed, with tall windows that frame views out over the garden, whilst several smaller rooms take on a more traditional aesthetic with painted shuttered windows and beautifully upholstered furniture. All the bathrooms have been finished to a high quality, with spacious showers and smart fittings that ensure guests have an exceptional experience. Two further bedrooms can be found within a separate annexe, where they also enjoy a bathroom and neat kitchenette that makes a great option for guests looking for a bit of independence or additional privacy.

Stepping out of the living room, a split staircase offers a sense of grandeur, with rose beds and statues lining each side as you drop down to the delightful terrace below. Leafy plants and potted olive trees offer a natural setting, whilst an arrangement of sofas and armchairs invite you to sit comfortably in the shade. A further set of stairs leads to the lower garden, where a series of terraced patios are dotted with flowerbeds and pretty fountains, inviting guests to enjoy the peaceful setting and perhaps spend a moment of solitude or practice some early morning yoga. Sitting to one side, the pool welcomes you for a refreshing swim or relax in one of the stylish loungers positioned along its edge. Further seating can be found beneath a woven pergola, perfect for enjoying a glass of wine at the end of the day whilst admiring the wonderful views down to the coast. Sitting beneath a more classical pergola, with ornate columns and climbing grape wines, a second outdoor dining area is the ideal place for hosting events and entertaining guests. With a long table to accommodate 14 and a barbecue nearby, you can take advantage of the warm weather and enjoy fun summer nights in this wonderful setting.

Situated between the towns of Frigiliana and Nerja, beside the Rio Higueron, Casa Feliz enjoys a peaceful setting whilst being just a short drive to the picturesque coves and white sand bays that dot the nearby coastline.

Hop in the car and head down to the charming town of Nerja, where you can wander around the village-like settlement. Explore its typically narrow streets of white-washed buildings and discover the 17th-century El Salvador Church or historic Hermitage with its lovely painted interior. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to stop for a bite to eat or walk along to the Balcon de Europa, where you can join locals and sip on a drink or share plates of tapas whilst soaking up the glorious smells and sounds that fill the lively street. Be sure to also visit the stunning Caves of Nerja, where visitors can marvel at this piece of natural history, where there is also an annual jazz festival!

There are plenty of beaches nearby, with the central Playa de Burriana just a short walk from the town centre. With a charming boardwalk and stretch of clean white sand, it is a popular spot for families. Spend a day beside the sea, soaking up the sun or hire a kayak and paddle out to explore the hidden waterfalls and narrow gorges that are tucked beyond the cliffs. There are several public amenities nearby, or for a plate of delicious fresh seafood, head to the longstanding Ayos, which has been running since 1969. Every day they prepare a traditional paella over a wood fire filling the area with inviting aromas, and you can sit and enjoy the typical dish whilst admiring the wonderful views out to sea.

For a quieter beach, Carabeillo is tucked just a few minutes around the cliffs, where you can enjoy the less crowded stretch of sand surrounded by wild vegetation. Alternatively, just along the coast, the beautiful Cala del Cañuelo offers a beautiful natural setting with dramatic rocky outcrops and sloping hills rising up behind. Situated in the Acantilados de Maro - Cerro Gordo Nature Reserve, it is perfect for escaping the crowds, taking a peaceful swim in the crystal clear waters or sharing a picnic on the sand. It is also a great spot for snorkelers, and you can discover the wide variety of corals and bright shoals of colourful fish swimming along the seabed.

Whilst there are plenty of hidden coves to discover along the coast, the region also boasts a wonderful landscape with the natural park covering 1,815 hectares, with breathtaking cliffs and forests of Aleppo pine and locust trees. Various trails invite you to take a gentle walk or head into the Sierra de Tejada, Almijara and Alhama Natural Park for a more challenging area and down to the sea below. The route starts in the same place as the Nerja Caves, so you can also stop off for a guided tour to discover the impressive rock formations and learn about the unique history and ancient cave paintings. And on the way back, be sure to stop off at the Acueducto del Aguila, where you can admire the impressive structure built during the height of the industrial revolution to ensure a steady water supply to the local sugar factory.

Casa Feliz was a wonderful oasis of green gardens amidst the dry Spanish southern coast. The premise is quite breathtaking, with the views down the valley and the grand French style buildings overlooking the gardens. We especially enjoyed the large pool and the wonderful patios for having dinner together with the whole gang in the garden. We were 12 people all in all, and the accommodation, rooms and amenities were perfect for us. The recommendations by our host Ane Marie were excellent, from having massages at the villa to the great restaurants of the nearby village of Frigiliana, not to mention the chef that we got to make some dinners at the villa that were simply breathtaking with local cuisine and delights. I'd warmly recommend the villa, as well as the area of Nerja which is a lovely bit of Spain to explore.
