My partner and I had a fantastic stay at the Shepherd's hut—it was clean and spacious for the two of us, with a well-equipped kitchen for preparing meals, all set in the most beautiful, tranquil location. We loved being so close to the animals and surrounded by nature. Christine kindly provided some lovely treats for our arrival—cider, chocolate, and biscuits—which were perfect after our hikes around the lake and for a cozy evening in front of the log burner, playing cards. We had originally planned the trip for stargazing, which would have been perfect at the hut, but unfortunately, the weather let us down. Nevertheless, we’d happily visit the hut again without hesitation and will cross our fingers for clearer skies next time!

We really enjoyed being shown around the animals on Christine's smallholding. The wood burner was lit prior to our arrival, so it was toasty warm when we got there, late in the evening. We ran out of time to have an outside fire but will be back to ensure we do next time! Very friendly landlords who have gone the extra mile to make this holiday home perfect.

The shepherds hut is well set in a clearing that is set apart from the main house with views of the rolling hills and sheep fields. The host is incredibly thoughtful and proactive welcoming you upon arrival with local recommendations, arrival gifts, handpicked flowers and a lit fireplace to make anyone feel at home. The hut is spacious with a full sized double bed and single bunk and plenty of additional space more than suited to three adults. The bathroom and kitchens are extremely close to the shepherds hut and are kept in pristine condition. We had an amazing stay with a particular highlights including meeting the newborn goats and having a barbecue over a homemade wood fire. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat or an adventure seeker looking to make the most of the lake and the Exmoor downs. This was an amazing trip, thank you so much to the host!!!
