    Skelmorlie Holiday Cottages

Characterised by its red sandstone buildings, Skelmorlie has been an established village since the 15th century, when Skelmorlie Castle and its tower house were built by the Clan Montgomery. Today, it's popular for its charm and surrounding scenic countryside, creating a lovely atmosphere. There are lovely independent shops, great eateries, and a history trail in the village. The listed Skelmorlie Measured Mile is an original example of a Royal Navy measured nautical mile, used as the range for speed trials of warships and merchant shipping trials.

Our Skelmorlie holiday cottages range from cosy and company to light and spacious. Many of them come with beautiful views, over pretty gardens or of the starry sky. We love the dog-friendly Glenfiddich holiday cottage in Skelmorlie, which offers beautiful coastal views from its terrace. Filter your Snaptrip search by property feature to find accommodation that’s pet- or family-friendly or even has a hot tub or swimming pool.

Holiday cottages in Skelmorlie can be booked through Snaptrip and — as all of our cottages are covered by a best price guarantee — you can be sure you won’t find cheaper elsewhere. With thousands of properties to choose from throughout the UK, you’re sure to find your next destination. Can’t decide? Our customer service team are on hand to help.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Stuart - Verified booking

We enjoyed a lovely stay and it was a good property for our entire family comprising 6 adults and 3 small children.

The only drawbacks were the lack of a bath for our 1 year old grand daughter (but we improvised by purchasing a small child's paddling pool which we were able to use in the walk in shower, and which, incidentally, we left behind should any future family wish to use it) and we found the sitting area a little small (it certainly would be cramped if there were a full quota of 14 people). On the plus side there was a high chair for our grand daughter to use, despite this not being shown on the listing, and the availability of a travel cot was greatly appreciated. Superb location with great views and ready (walking) access to the facilities in Largs

We had an amazing stay, the house is beautiful and central to Largs.

We celebrated our Christmas day’ the kitchen was perfect for me to cook a full Christmas dinner. There is so much space, we were able to do lots of fun activities we brought with us. Only tiny fault was the hot tub; it wouldn’t heat up, but, Ashleigh was kind and accommodating and refunded us £100. We would love to go back next year, sadly with the price increase we may not be able to. The rooms are beautiful and warm. The creepy outlander room was beautiful but scary

We enjoyed our stay and the beds are the most comfortable beds in any holiday cottage we have stayed in, and we have stayed in a few.

The bedrooms were beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub. Excellent fridge/freezer space as we take enough food for a fortnight and good kitchen facilities. The sitting area was a bit small for all of us but we made it work. Ashleigh was lovely, always at the end of the phone, even when we called the wrong number she was always lovely. Would recommend The Old Rectory, especially if your stay is during summer as you are right on beach, would definately go again.

Lacking in facilities, no en-suite on the ground level, no shower mat in the shared bathroom and shower floor got very slippery ( so we bought one before anyone had an accident).

Kitchen equipment not adequate as largest pan to small to cook for a family. No tongs to turn things in the grill etc. the front lounge was not big enough the party size. No bbq but we bought small disposable ones (perhaps it would be a good idea to say in listing). All in all we feel the facilities do not match the premium rental so would not recommend it. It was an excellent base and we had good weather so had a good holiday in the area.

We stayed with aunts and cousins for a family get together, the house is lovely.

Great property fab location only downside is there was no shower downstairs. Some members couldn’t access the stairs due to poor mobility. It would be beneficial to have hanging facilities in the twin bedroom and carpets rather than the tiles, also needs small table lamp in this room. The other rooms were lovely and luxurious. We had a fantastic time in your lovely home.
