What our customers say about their holidays

    • Miss Bentley - Verified booking

Fantastic cottage and grounds. Well equipped and spotlessly clean throughout. We just couldn’t fault anything at all. So beautifully decorated, furnished and finished it most definitely felt like a place of relaxation and rest. Very well though out by the owners with the guests comfort in mind. The outside space was excellent for both us and our doggy. All securely fenced and a brilliant covered area for the hot tub. The farm is beautiful and the owners provided a map of the grounds so we could enjoy the land and views. The location was great for exploring along the north coast with excellent amenities just 10 minutes away in a car. The small country lanes are part of its charm, with very little passing traffic and fantastic views. Thank you to Sam & Steve for being excellent hosts. We would love to coming back!

    • Mrs Lamb - Verified booking

We booked just 3 days before arrival and received all of the arrival details including a phone call from the owners which were clear and helpful. On arrival we were met with a warm welcome and a well needed plate of scones and cream. The cottage is beautiful and very well laid out. As a family with 2 teenage boys we all had enough space and we had everything we needed there including an en suite in each of the bedrooms which were really useful too. The cottage was cosy in the evenings and has privacy in the courtyard area for alfresco dining/ breakfast etc. Location was good and allowed easy access to lots of areas to explore further afield on the local road networks. We had a fantastic stay and would definitely come back again.

Apparently, following some redecoration, the property had been left without heat for some days and was very cold and still with out any heating on when we arrived.

In our view, the electric wall mounted heaters would never be adequate in early spring, winter and late autumn mainly because of the high pitched ceilings in the living room and bedroom[i.e. heat rises].The wood burning stove is nice idea and very fashionable but, in practise, was difficult to light and 'ate' wood with out adding much to the warmth of the main living and sleeping areas. If the current system is going to be retained we suggest in the cold season a good electric fan heater is provided in lieu of the log burner. We,in fact, left a day early to avoid another evening and night at Beech cottage. The enormous TV was also much too big for a small living room.

    • Mr Davies-Ratcliffe - Verified booking

Absolutely wonderful cottage. One of the very few we would come back too. Like a home from home. It’s remote (ish) set in a beautiful Devon rural farming landscape. The lanes are made in Devon. Narrow. This took nothing away from our stay. Our hosts were welcoming and ready to help if needed. The cottage is bright and welcoming. The cream tea delicious. Upstairs the bedrooms are comfortable and the bathrooms clean and functional. Outside space was nice but alas not used too much due to the English late summer. Close to lovely countryside walks. A little further by car too all North Devon has to offer. We had a great stay and would more than recommend it to others.

We stayed at Beech Cottage for a 5 day break around New Year.

Very nice location in quiet lane overlooking lovely countryside. The log burner was most welcome . We took our dog Bueno with us , who enjoyed some great walks. We also took our bikes & dog trailer which Debbie, owner kindly let us store in her garage. You do need to take a torch with you, as the one in the cottage isn't great. There wasn't a comments book in the cottage, so could you please pass on our thanks for the prosecco Debbie left for us. A really enjoyable stay lucky too with the weather only rain once. Note to Sykes Holidays. Your paperwork stated contact for keys Lucy Watkins, this is incorrect. Its Debbie Potter although tel number is as you say
