"This is a very attractive, comfortable, clean cottage set in lovely Ayrshire countryside attached to the friendly helpful owners home. The views are gorgeous and on a good day you can see Arran and lots of wildlife from the cottage windows. The website pictures do not do the place justice. Andrew the owner is very friendly and on hand for any advice or problems but leaves you to enjoy the peace and beauty of this often overlooked area otherwise. There was a lovely welcome basket and milk in the fridge which was a much appreciated by us after a long journey. There was even a pack of treats for our dog....some cheesy treats which he loved despite usually not being a fan of such things! We really enjoyed the local beaches and little towns, eg Troon and had a fantastic day trip over to Arran. We had come for my father's funeral in Glasgow (this is also close by) but ended up having a really lovely holiday week. It has the peace of the countryside but there are lots of supermarkets nearby for provisions and there is a popular Indian restaurant within walking distance. And we didn't find the roads bad at all unlike a previous review. You just have to drive with care nearby, as with all country roads. The cottage itself is in a quiet lane with a beautiful ruin nearby. So overall, this is a great place to have a holiday, near the beautiful Ayrshire coast but also the attractions of Glasgow."

"We are just back from a wonderful week in The Cottage. It was heaven on earth. The comfort was second to none, albeit the décor was set in the 70s but the bungalow used to be a granny annex and has not been updated. Even so there was a comforting presence which reminded us of our parent's homes so we were relaxed immediately. The accommodation was absolutely spotless and the location was superb. The views from all the windows was over open countryside (30 miles distant, we were told). The owners were so warm and welcoming, there was a welcome gift of a jar of homemade strawberry jam and a jar of homemade marmalade on our arrival, they were absolutely delicious too. Our dog was so happy and contented. The grounds around The Cottage are really lovely. Ruby, our dog, just roamed, sat and slept in the sunshine on the lovely grass all around. The local village, Tarbolton, was a mile away and we had to drive to get there as there are no footpaths (which is awkward when you are walking with a dog). Nevertheless, we drove out to Ayr, Troon, Saltcoats and Largs and walked for miles along the lovely sandy beaches and picked up supplies of any food we needed while we were out. We were very lucky with the weather too, temperatures reaching 24 degrees on most days. Everything was really superb and we will definitely make the 7 hour trip to stay at The Cottage again."

"We were really disappointed with this holiday cottage It was a very last minute booking although this didn’t make any difference with the price The house is in real need of TLC is in a neglected state inside and outOnly one shower was working The heating kept going off and we had to fire up the boiler. we had a 6 month old baby and a pensioner just out from hospital with pneumonia and pulmonary fibrosis No where to hang up a washing - we bought a clothes line and pegs ourselves to wash through towels or tumble dryer However we still managed to have a lovely week after we cleaned the cottage and then what really helped was the weather and location The lady who let us into the house was lovely and did try and help This could be a wonderful holiday home if the owners just cared about it We have had other places that we have paid a similar amount of money for and the standard was extremely higher Therefore it was not value for the money we paid I would not recommend this house until it has been completely renovated or bought over. Real shame Lovely little village Lovely people Lovely walks Real potential"

"This is a great place to stay. The owner is great and very helpful. We spent a week here with our two Shih Tzu's and they loved it with the big garden fully enclosed except the gate but they never even tried to go though it. Inside is very clean and comfortable with everything you would need. We were even able to record a programme we wanted to see so that we were able to see it later in the week. Beds clean and comfortable. Shower great with a bath if you would rather use. Only down side is the local drivers who think that the lane outside is a race track as they now it well, so be very careful when driving around corners. (Buy a dashcam for evidence). We had our Grandchildren stay for 2 nights and were made very welcome. The welcome pack of milk, tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits is a very nice touch by the owner. All in all, I would recommend this place to all and will be returning ourselves in the future."

"The cottage was set i.n lovely surroundings with lovely walks. However the cottage was dirty on arrival with several cobwebs and the kitchen needed a clean especially cutlery drawer and bread bin. We had no TV as the plug was missing from the sky box however this was resolved by the Tuesday, the DVD player was faulty and would freeze throughout the film. Two of the chairs in the kitchen were faulty one actually held together with selotape. The main complaint was that the house was far too hot with the heating on for 24 hours a day and we were not able to have all the windows open due to the midges. We actually left on the Thursday as we were put off by youths visiting the estate and causing trouble. Was a great shame as it is set in beautiful surroundings and I am sure if we went at a different time of the year the heating etc wouldn't have been an issue."
