Introducing
The Ellen White Cliffs of Dover

With England as the hosts, the highly anticipated Women’s UEFA Euro 2022 kicks off on 6th July. The Lionesses are second favourites to win this summer’s silverware and enjoyed an impressive warm up campaign, beating current holders the Netherlands 5-1 at Elland Road.

In a team packed full of stars, one player really stands out. Ellen White has netted 50 goals in just 107* international appearances, making her the Lionesses all time leading goalscorer. Her talents aren’t just limited to the international stage, with the striker lifting 10 club trophies in the past 12 years.

So, what better way to welcome rival European teams and their supporters, whilst showing true Lioness fighting spirit, than at England’s gateway, and an iconic natural landmark, the White Cliffs of Dover - or rather, ‘The Ellen White Cliffs of Dover?’

On Thursday 30th June, we projected a giant image of Ellen White onto the White Cliffs of Dover. With her defiant stare facing France and the rest of the continent, England have never been more ready for the challenge ahead.

To show your support for the Lionesses, and as part of our rebrand of England’s most striking coastline, we want people to join us in campaigning for The National Trust to temporarily rename the White Cliffs of Dover as ‘The Ellen White Cliffs of Dover’ for the duration of the Euros.

In the past, we’ve seen people supporting Gareth Southgate by renaming streets and a Tube station after him. ‘The Ellen White Cliffs of Dover’ shines a light on women's football and England’s amazing sporting talent, while showcasing one of England’s most beautiful natural landscapes.

And for those hoping to watch any of the games, we’re sure fans will be able to stay close to one of nine host cities for this summer's competition. At Snaptrip, we offer people access to more than 60,000 holiday cottages, lodges and apartments to book across the UK.

England will play their first game against Austria on the 6th July in Manchester, Norway on the 11t July in Brighton, and Northern Ireland on the 15th of July in Southampton. All host cities including London will operate fan parks throughout the tournament.
