Things to do in Ramsey
Ramsey is the island’s second largest town and the capital of the north of the Isle of Man. Situated just a 25 minute drive from Douglas and ferry services, Ramsey is famed for being the start of the Snaefell Mountain Course, used for the Manx Grand Prix and Isle of Man TT. This great northern gateway sits at the end of the Manx Electric Railway which connects to Douglas and Laxey. The beautiful Mooragh Park offers a great day out with a boating lake, play areas, a cafe, a BMX track, an outdoor gym, tennis courts and mini golf, and town centre shops provide great souvenirs and local produce so you can take home a reminder of the island.

You’ll be able to enjoy a range of activities from abseiling to canoeing, and there are family courses providing the chance to experience a few different activities perfect for parents and children over the age of eight. The Grove House and Gardens, with the Rural Life Museum also offers a great day out. Farmland grounds are home to livestock, and the house includes replica toys for children to enjoy. Things to Do & See in Ramsey
Nestling on the northeastern coast of the Isle of Man, Ramsey features a beautiful harbour where you can pick up cruises along the coastline to Laxey and Douglas, taking in the spectacular high cliffs at Bulgham, the Dhoon Valley, Port Cornaa and Port Mooar, rounding the Maughold Head with its famous seal colony and lighthouse. Precious ancient monuments also sit around Ramsey, particularly Cashtal yn Ard just to the south, the largest Neolithic tomb in the UK!
The coastline east of Ramsey towards Maughold Head and Gob ny Rona offers magnificent coastal walking, taking in ancient sites en-route such as Maughold Head Iron Age Fort. Spectacular views of Ramsey are from the footpath at Gob ny Rona – a small peninsula with low cliffs and heath. This coastal stretch is rich in seabirds including Shags, Fulmars, Razorbills and Kittiwakes all nesting in the cliffs here.
Mooragh Park
Ramsey is where you’ll find one of the best leisure parks on the Isle of Man. Mooragh Park in Ramsey is spread across 12 acres and features a boating lake offering a choice of watersports from canoeing and sailing to kayaking. The Venture Centre, widely regarded as the Isle of Man’s best outdoor activity centre, is based here offering a fantastic choice of land and water based activities including raft building, sailing, archery, an assault course and more – perfect for families, school groups and team building corporate exercises. Individuals are welcome during weekends.
Curraghs Wildlife Park
The Curraghs Wildlife Park in Ballaugh to the west of Ramsey is where you’ll see wildlife from across the world. The park has around 100 species, many of which are endangered. Animals are grouped together in their relevant geographical areas from Australia to America and in acres of space. The park guarantees a fun family day out with walk through experiences, on-site soft play areas and a miniature railway.
